GUNS & AMMO

I will be heading out there either this year or next to chase elk with my bow. You would be suprised how accurate new bows are and how far their effective rage is, I practice regularly out to 90 yards

I know its not a gun or ammo but thought I would share my new obsession. With the price of ammo and lack of it. I picked this up today for dirt cheap. It has been 15-20 years since I picked up a Bow. Technology has sure changed since then. Over the last few years I had looked into getting into archery. But the price of bows was what kept me away. I couldnt pass this deal up so here I am. Now to learn all over again. Any archery buffs on here? Any good websites or books for a beginner to check out?

I've got a few bows that I want to have checked out so I can start putting arrows through them but they're nowhere near as...confusing... As that one.

Bow looks nice. First thing I would do is ditch anything on you string that's not a knock or peep site. Then see if you can find a product called limb savers.

Those things really quiet a bow down and you don't lose any string speed.

Have fun archery is sweet, and as others said you won't believe how deadly a bow can be even over 50 yards. My fist white tail buck I shot at about fifty, got a clean pass through the chest cavity and he didn't go far.

So I got tired of the black on my marlin. Took away from what I really wanted.

So I stripped it down, added some "age"

Then added the red over it all and ended with this.

Ignore crap pics, was still slightly damp so couldnt "pose" for a pic.

Much better I think

Took the Bow to the Bear Creek Archery range today. Man what a blast it is. Should of gotten into this a long time ago. Definitely reguires a lot off skill and practice. If anyone is thinking of getting into archery I say go for it. It's a lot of fun. If you need a range the one at Bear Creek Park is very nice and it's free.

I am jealous Joe!

I have been interested in Archery for a long time. As a child my father taught me to shoot but that was when I was young.. He had always bow hunted which I always respected. Unfortunately, here it is many years later and I have still never gotten one.

I was looking to pick up a new handgun, but I may just divert that money to a archery setup...if anybody knows of a good used setup, I would be interested. Compound bows looked nothing like what you have found there Joe, looks nice though. Hopefully I can find something like you have gotten.

What helped me find my smoking deal was my boss. He is a big archery nut. He found it for me. I had no clue what to look for. I would go to your local archery store and ask a lot of questions. They will help you find what size bow to get etc. Then you can start looking for used ones. I hit up my local Sportsman's Warehouse and talked for over an hour with the guy that runs the archery department. Very informative and helped me out a ton. Also got signed up for their free archery class they offer. While we were talking we were joking about the people waiting in line to buy guns that they cant find ammo for. He told me since this whole gun drama started that the used bow market took a big hit because everyone is buying up guns. So he said now is a great time to find some killer deals out there.

Took the bow to the range again today. I finnally got the bow dialed in. Robin Hooded my first arrow today at 3O yards and 2 more partial splits. Not bad for my second day out. It was great day. Now I need more arrows.

A variation of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers saying:

Guns are better in times of no money, than money is in times of no guns.

I finally have a few extra bucks, and what happens? No guns. :(
