****Check this post often as updates will be edited into it as we go, Thanks.****

Registration will be handled on site at the SlickRock Campground in the cabin area at the back of the campground at Cabin #7 so come see us. Registation fees will be as follows.

Registration fee per vehicle $20
Friday night dinner $10 per person, 6:30pm at Slickrock Campground
BLM trail use fee for official trails $5 per day/trail
Special fee for Pritchett Canyon Trail private property crossing payable at the start of the trail
Elephant Hill requires paying Entrance Fee into Caynonlands National Park $10

If you have any questions feel free to ask for trail ratings and what your vehicle might be capable of doing when you get to Moab. All trail signups will be handled on site at the SlickRock Campground in the back of the campground at Cabin #7. Each trail will have certain build/equipment requirements based on the trail leaders experience. I will be arriving Saturday October 2nd in the afternoon for those coming out early.

For those coming this is a great book covering the trails around Moab by Charles A. Wells and should you get one I would strongly suggest getting the Spiral Bound option when ordering.

Please note that we are in contact with both the BLM and Park Service. The Elephant Hill trail is estimated to be open by the time we are scheduled to run it. All of the other trails around Moab hopefully will be as well when we are there too.

Is there any chance of getting a run on Elephant Hill on wednesday or thursday??? I have never run that one and it looks like it has some killer scenery! I have already run the other trails on those two days. :dunno:

Possibly it depends. If I can't maybe someone else can or will go with you. If needed I have an extra Moab Trails book you could borrow.

I don't want to dictate how the runs will go. I just thought that maybe it might be a possibility. The whole point to me coming to the Fall Fling is to wheel and get to know some fellow NAXJA members. Don't wanna be a loner or a cry baby either. I will just go with the flow. More fun that way.:)

Not at all. If we have leaders for both trails on Wednesday then I will be free to do Elephant Hill with you and any others that would like to. If not I will be leading one of the official trails. You are more than welcome to borrow my extra trail book and go by yourself or with others who would like to go. It's common to have individuals or small groups get together and run something other than official runs on some days. It's all about everyone having a good time and experiencing all the wonders that make the greater Moab area so special.

I hope they don't use it as an excuse to "much improve it to the point of being able to drive a Civic over it.

I don't trust the NPS.

Back in the 70's I loved the remoteness of the Island in the Sky/Grandview Point area. You had to travel a long way on unimproved dirt roads to get out there. Then they paved it for the busloads of German tourists....

Anyway, the ranger I talked to said the damaged area was the "backside", which never having been on the EH trail but having read about it, I assumed was a sandy alluvial section west of the slickrock switchbacks that must be negotiated relatively early on. I would have to assume the slickrock climb will necessarily remain 4 wheel drive only, keeping the Civics out. Or I can hope so anyway.

Damn, we came out that way when I lead Hell's Revenge in 2006, the last time I've been out there for the Fling.

i know i was with you remember :D

funny thing was we ran it on a weds i think and it was open, the following sat. we went to run it and it was closed.
