Looks like mine was a super-late-model 2000

With all these Jeeps it was getting a little hard to keep up with the keys

This should help to identify them a little better :)

The JK one is my wife's. She plans on replacing her Libby with a JKU at some point so I figured I would go ahead and just get her that one. The other two are clearly mine. :)

Props to Seven Slot Society on these things! Very nice!

Thanks! I'm ready to lift this damn thing already but I am waiting until I find my wheels/tires on Craigslist.

I remember a few years back TJ Moabs were for sale any given day of the week. Now I find JK Moabs all the time but the TJ ones seem to be elusive and too expensive when they are put up. I wouldn't be highly opposed to the 17" JK ones but I don't especially want to run spacers and tires are that much more expensive for them!

IMO the JK moabs just do not look right, plus the cost of adapters kills it. I've scored some TJ moabs in the past but was offered alot more than I paid so I let them go. One thing is they have 5" bs and IMO that is just too much. As great as they look, 3.75-4.5" bs is ideal to clear control arms.

I could go with Mamba's (same as the TJ Moab but with less backspacing). I just really didn't want to have to pay the price of buying new wheels and tires right now.

We'll see...

I really like the MR1 Mambas but when I tried ordering a set 9 months ago they were back ordered and had been for a year at quadratec. Call before you order. I ended up canceling my order.

I scored a set about 2 years back for $200. Guy bought them for the tires on them and had no idea that the 16" ones were so rare.

The 17's are a dime a dozen; I hate that they used the same style on so many models of JK, they're so much less unique now.

Me too. Its still a great looking wheel but I never understood why they threw it on so many different models.

Then again Jeep has made quite a few questionable decisions in recent years...:soapbox:

Fixed my window issue today. I had the problem where the other windows only work from the driver door. No more!

Also, ordered my "lift." HD Offroad Engineering brackets and placing an order for some RC shackles tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it on some point this week cause I am planning on getting some tires this week or next!

Tires are on the way. I found a deal that was literally too good to pass up on.

Gonna try my best to get it all installed this weekend. Details on the deal to come once its done.

Re: Re: EugeneTheTJ's 2000 XJ Build Thread

Picked up a matching Ecco spare tonight off CL. Now I have a full set of 5 Ecco wheels and 5 225/75R15 tires. At least for a few more days...

I always liked ecco's. Jeep had good taste in the alloy wheels they offered on the XJ. Can't wait to see more pictures!

I like them too. I came to the realization that if I just stick with these and 31s I'll save a lot of money over switching to moabs and then having to get tires for 16 inch wheels. Plus 31s are more easily sourced no matter where I may be.

Lift is halfway done. Messed up with the order of the relocation bracket, exhaust hanger, and hitch so now I either have to cut the hitch, cut and remount the exhaust hanger, or just leave the hitch off.

Probably going with option number 2.

There's way too much **** sandwiched back there on xj's!

Holy hell that was a pain in the ***. I also mangled the exhaust hanger and the passenger nut strip is fubar so gonna have to replace that before I can reinstall my hitch.

Probably need to take it to an exhaust shop to get a custom hanger made and have them bend the tailpipe away from the shackle bolt too.

Otherwise, rides good. No vibes. Netted 2.5 inches total.
