I'm back!!!!!!!!! Gary E is the man!! thanks for the axle I didn't use it but I was greatful knowing it was on it's way up to me just incase!
That was a the wheeling trip from hell. We were supposed to meet up at 4pm fri to get going, we didn't leave until after 7.
we set up camp at about 1 am.
Sat. We got up at 11am didn't get going until 2pm! wheeled for about an hour I snapped the front U joint
, no big deal...I thought. Pulled it apart the and found the U joint tweaked the axle end
. so for the next 4 hours or so be beat, banged and pryed the axle almost straight. When we started putting the U joint back togather the cap broke :anon: so for the next hour or so I sifted thru the dirt finding all the needles to the old cap to put on the new U joint
We put the new/old cap on the new joint, tapped it in lightly ...it dropped right in....So I figured we could apply the CRASH method and weld the u joint on to the cap since we had a 24 volt wirefeed welder. So we get the wirefeed out would'nt you know we oly had one set of jumper cables
. So he put a 12V bunny turd weld on it
By now it's about 7:30 we hit winchhill 1 at about 8:00 I decided to take the bypass....and got stuck for about an hour because I got wedged between 2 rocks, some hi-lifting and rock stacking got me clear. It's now about 9:30. The Nissan that was with us also took the bypass and got stuck!!, more hi-lifting and rock stacking got him up to the top of the bypass.... almost his front drive line pops apart.about 10:45 we get going and camped at the second water crossing and
arty: until about 3am. noon rolls around on sunday we get going about 30 min later we are at Winch hill 2 but nobody tells me ang I get to the top and get stuck for about 1 1/2 hours O, while I was getting strapped out my junk falls on it's side
damage, bottom rear quarter thanks to the bumper it held me on a rock. the nissan got stuck also, another 2 hours gettin him off the bypass, he had a monster rock under him. 5pm the Sammi blows the rear driveline U-joint. 6pm the 78 bronco blows a U-joint strap. 6:30 the Toyota blows a motor mount, right at at the Cisco grove water crossing the 68 bronco blows the starter. At 6:30 we got a hold of a friend in Sacramento to run up some parts, It's his birthday so calls his family and canceled his party
. he gets up to the campgrounds in his Toyota camary and gets lost. The toyata found him at about 11:30 sleeping on the side of the road. He came back with the parts everyone got their junk fixed and we hit the road at about 1 am and got home at 3am. I'm going back to sleep now:wow:
