collection of jeep stuff(build/blog)

So ballpark cost of your cage is $250 in material right now correct. Just trying to decide if I can afford to get in on this deal bc it seems to be the biggest order I've seen so far.

Ok lou I'll call in and add that. The price will go down even more with more tube added orders.

So I have 16 x .120 sticks that's 320'
And seven sticks of .188 at 140'..
I'll call tomorrow and add that in for a price. Honestly anybody else who wants in this will be the cheapest you'll see. Expect to pay nearly $3 per foot if you bought the 6 sticks of .120 yourself. So basically another $120 if Ya do it solo.

sounds like i should join club dom & buy some .120

i'll be selling my hrew for a buck a foot & have 180' in stock.

pat, get in touch with me before you place the order...

Good god this is tempting. Not sure if I'm ready to drop the money on some 2" tube to cage the ranger quite yet though.

Man!!! If I could drop that cash right now I would jump in on this order. Will the jd2 be able to bend the .188 tube? Or will something stronger be needed?

I was thinking about just making the header bar and roof sliders out of .188 and using .120 for all the cross bars. Is that about what you were thinking too? What's your idea for the interior in the cargo area?

I want in for sure. I want to do .188 for the halo and a pillar. Then use .120 for the cross bars and the rest of the legs. Anyone see a prob with this idea?

when i installed the 2x6 rockers i cut 2" off the bottom of the doors & left them open.

i plan on making the a pillar bar .188 since that is the point i'm sure i'll be ramming into the rocks.

I can tell you from experience all the 1.5" .120 HREW on my rig is dented to crap after less than 1 season and only a few runs on the rear tube fenders and the slider extensions. I would go .188 DOM next time if the price was right.

I spent time talking to Jess about cage stuff over the weekend. He definitely convinced me to use .188 wall DOM on anything that's going to smack the rocks.

NAh Jake was wondering what you did about sealing up the bottoms of your doors for the 2x6 sliders. If you even resealed em lol

never sealed them lol. my jeeps not nice like yours man, so it receives minimal effort
it could easily be done with some 18ga sheet and some careful 110 .030 tack welds though
I'd do it, but my doors are gonna get hammer bashed anyway. why bother

Hahah ya I guess I'll fit up some thin sheet from work .. At least I'll only have 2 doors to do this to. Going to add a little mini boatside from the 2x6 to frame rail. Just have to eliminate the little tie in from the RE long arms and weld the flat steel to the 2x6 and the unibody frame. Going to try and make it as clean and functional as possible since I only got one shot..

Just picked some 2x6 13' of it for 85$ tonight
