Hahah ya I guess I'll fit up some thin sheet from work .. At least I'll only have 2 doors to do this to. Going to add a little mini boatside from the 2x6 to frame rail. Just have to eliminate the little tie in from the RE long arms and weld the flat steel to the 2x6 and the unibody frame. Going to try and make it as clean and functional as possible since I only got one shot..

Just picked some 2x6 13' of it for 85$ tonight

Lou, I got it from deitrich iron works in Santa Cruz. We work down the street from them and they happened to have a 13' section. I can ask for a 12' for you too but might be a bit more since they'd have to cut a fresh stick.

I'm very excited for the cage. Plans are a nice tight fitting halo like Kevin's. Interior like Eric's. And a tight exo around the engine. Adding in tube flares to my quarter armor and the front. Exterior to be color matched to the body's white. And maybe the interior white too. I've got a busy next month or so as now this will be my only dd. Might be able to borrow my dad's Tacoma so I can work on the cage and not rust it out. I also hope to go and make a stand for my bender this weekend and mount it to the concrete floor. Also going to do the 2x6 on Saturday. Hopefully do one whole side at least. We'll see!

Alrighty final count for tube order is 480' of .120 and 140' of .188. Anybody else before I go ahead and get a pricing on that again??

damn. is there some way to get any of this closer to the sacto area for pickup? what are the final costs per foot at this bulk?

Final price is 1.97 a ft of .120 and .188 is $3.10 a ft. Not getting any cheaper he said.

I have a box truck I could potentially drive up to sacto if you cover gas and maybe some beers. But at that point the cost probably isn't worth it imo

I have an ironworker but the boss is already being nice to give me a bunch of steel for projects I was probably going to shoot sparks at my face to cut it haha. Using yours would be much appreciated!!
