before the crawl my junk needs.....

Well here is a starting list.

Finish engine that's in my garage and swap.

Rebuild transfer case

Install new AC dryer (AC freezes up in dry Utah air, can't imagine what humidity will do.

Pull rear axle and try to figure out why oil seeps from the plug welds, install new ubolt eliminators and new shock mounts.

Cut and rotate one front knuckle back 1.5 degrees.

Fab up and install new WJ steering.

Try and fix the rust around the windshield so it won't leak when it rains.

Go through both driveshafts. Make sure they are up to 3600 mi of rotations.

Have spare driveshaft built.

Fix stripped out holes in the frame so the belly pan (and front axle) doesn't fall out.

Well I'll start this wish list for both Jeeps since as of right now I don't know which one I'm taking (I'd rather drive the little one given that it's a 4,600 mile trip minimum but if Holly isn't going I may have to drive the big one (she daily drives my little Jeep).

Red Jeep:
Possibly fix rotten windshield channel (not very likely)
Put AC together
Basic PM work
Possibly tires

Black Jeep:
Top off AC
Basic PM
Weld on TNT Stiffeners
Install TNT Belly Pan
Rebuild TC
Purchase and install SYE
Get and install tires
Fix CB Antenna mount
Install lunchbox locker in front axle

Either Jeep:
Fine tune roof rack. Possibly fabricate new gutter mounts to drop it down 1.5" closer to roof
Contemplate new gear storage options
Purchase family sized tent

My list has to be done by WinterFest, but I'm sure I'll add more before the Crawl.

Install 8.8/4.5" leafs. - DONE
Install winch bumper.
Install/plumb MM hydro winch.
Install roof sliders.
Purchase and install rock rails.
Rear tow point of some kind.
Go through driveshafts and axleshafts to refresh ujoints and slip joints.
Hook up e-brake.
Good shake down to drive 750 miles round trip.

Wish list:

Tire carrier.
97+ intake.
WJ PS pump.
Rear locker.
Swaybar discos.

Add:

Hood vents
Fix the A/C :D

David Bricker has a set of LeBaron vents for sale in the SoCal forum. I got a set on my XJ and love them.

I saw those. I had Lumina Z34 vents on my 01 and loved the way they looked, I may try to find a set of those. We have a Fiero with huge (10"x12") vents at the shop, I had thought about those too but I like heat in the winter :D

Axle seals
Replace shocks I'm thinking Gabriel monotubes
Dana 44 lube locker
Fix cb
Install bucket seats
Brown dog motor mounts
Replace Trac-bar bushing and bolt
Replace u-joint in spare driveshaft
Touch up rust spots
Flush fluids
"Find truck and trailer to haul my junk

Not likely bucket list:
Make and install a traction bar
Install bead locks
Box in front end, aka I wanna be like "beergoggles"
Truss front and rear axles
Plexi windshield. Does anyone have one?

Swap out suspension (working on that this weekend). DONE
Cut and install new steering (in the next couple of weeks hopefully).
Frame Stiffiners (yeah, the same ones I won two years ago at the crawl...still haven't got them on yet).
Would like to find some new tires for it as well.

Whatever else decides to go wrong between now and then.

Now that I dug into it - mostly minor stuff:

  • new u-joint in front drive shaft - DONE
  • new driveshaft straps - DONE
  • new front pinion yoke - DONE
  • repair spring holder on drivers side
  • a couple new tie rod ends
  • repair snapped off bolt in the differential housing -DONE
  • maybe a new ball joint. Firestone says it's bad. I'm doubtful. -SKIPPING THIS ONE
  • Replace fluid in rear axle

Install my new rear bumper with swingout tire carrier.

I have everything written down on a piece of paper but still need to get a couple parts and get everything either built or put on. Need to get started on it or July will be here before i know it.

Things are checking off steadily, with probably a dozen new ones to pop up in the next 7 months...

Since Dirk is blowing through his list, I think he needs to come to NC and fix my junk when he's done :D
