A Humboldt-Cherokee Blog.

For Columbus:
I just voted for you even though you had all that stupid "Jetta wagon" talk a few weeks ago. I figured that maybe it was just some young kid trying new stuff in college - I hope that experimentation phase has passed. I think we all learned an important lesson and can come away from it stronger.

For Everyone:
I have recently been blessed with moderator powers that make some sort of Super Hero on NAXJA...so don't mess with me or I'll edit your threads for spelling errors and correct your grammar. Don't try me - I got an A+ in my college English course over 10 years ago.

ooo im cool dewd.

great, we can all sleep soundly knowing that captain_weirdo is here to save us from poor grammar, bad punctuation, misspelled words, ALL CAPS & runonsentances.

does this mean you will soon be wearing a mask, tights, & a cape?!? :looser:

on second thought, the mask may be an improvement...:gee:

Skipper, don't make me wield this new power for evil! I am not to be messed with. You don't want to get on my bad list which is currently occupied by Letterman and possibly knucklehead_61. (How the hell did I get elected again?!?)

how the hell did you get elected??? i don't remember you bribing us with bewbie pictures like letterman did.

They work for me. :(

I decided that my rail shifter wasn't all it could be. I had the torque converter switch up near the arm rest. It was exhausting to shift, switch the clutch on, accelerate, then turn the clutch off, shift, repeat.

So, the solution was to move the switch next to the shifter.
Now it's perfect! I can lock the clutch up, shift, and unlock no problem.
Just a simple piece of plastic and 20 minutes.

nice setup! I went back on Jeepforum and now I can see your pics but not one of the other rigs. WTF? Maybe the Moderator with super powers can fix that too.. JK

Went to Titlow hill/ Friday ridge road yesterday.

We've been in a big storm, so it's dumping up there. Met a local in a Toyota on 36's, he was nice enough to guide us.

My new 33's were amazing in the snow. Night and day compared to the at's.

Looks like fun. Have you had to readjust bumpstops for the new tires? Looks like you only have an inch or two before contacting the flares, but maybe they tuck in the wheel wells pretty good?

Sean, what fuel saving mods have you done? Which have provided the best results?

4 hole injectors- Runs smoother. No change.
Dual Efans- Pretty much no change
Cowl Snorkel, high flow exhaust- Maybe 2 mpg

Honestly, all my intended mpg mods haven't done much.

However, when I installed the skinny 33's, I got my best of 320 miles to a tank driving to the bay area. It used to do 270 miles/tank with the treadwrights.

hmm. that makes me want to get some 33/10.5 street tires for all non-wheeling driving. i bet thatd help a ton with my mpg!

First off, nice rig! Your hard work has paid off. I was wondering what your opinion of the Rough Country long arms is after having them installed for more than a year. How are they holding up? Any problems with the flex joints? I'm considering buying these but would like to hear some feedback before puting dowm some hard earned cash on them.

I still really like them. The joints sucked at first, but now the new ones are supposed to be much better.

My jeep has been getting a ton of use lately, which is why I havent been on naxja lately. I try to wheel every weekend.

In other news, my fender flares are wasted, but it's so wet and crappy up here all the time, so I want to have some coverage. The front 2 flares are always at risk of falling off. haha

I'll probably get the Napier flares. The cut and fold flares will fit my back bumper too.

Have you thought about the flexy flares? That is what I will be doing when I have some more cash and stop being lazy.
