A Humboldt-Cherokee Blog.

Disclaimer- That was once, just the highway only drive to the bay area.

I get about 260 a tank right now. (It's actually been worse than that, because of snow wheeling.) Our fuel is horrible, they barge it up, so it's probably filthy and stale.

Oh and it's 4.39 a gallon and going up every day.

I need a hoopty DD.

Have you thought about the flexy flares? That is what I will be doing when I have some more cash and stop being lazy.

I took a look at the flexy flares and they are just what I am looking for. thank for the lead.

320 miles to a tank? I go 240 with my 33x10.50's before wanting to fill up. You using magic Humboldt gas in your rig?

Don't listen to Columbus. He's up in Humboldt and majoring in something like "Earth Sciences" so that tells you all you need to know. It wasn't magic gas...it was magic grass. He was feeling good about himself and forgot that he filled up an extra time. Then he claims 35MPG and we all fall for it.

Columbus, you coming down for Sierra Fest? If not, at least tell your dad to come.

I'm majoring in pot growing... get it? Because literally everyone grows pot here?

:laugh3:

Yeah, I'm coming down for sure.

To laugh at your driving skills, and maybe to take pictures of said driving skills.

Hey Sierra chapter, I'm still alive. No xj updates.

But I have been doing lots of photography of local railroad artifacts. (Theres tons)

I'm joining a group called the Timber Heritage Association too, already did some work on an 1893 Steam locomotive that was used in logging.

These guys own 9 locomotives (from a 70 ton shay, down to the 11 ton steamer)

Anyway- Here's some of my local shots, the line shut down in 1998 due to storm damage.

At the timber heritage association-
The group owns 9 loco's, 6 passenger cars, and lots of other rolling stock.

The ultimate goal is to have an excursion train from samoa to Old town Eureka. The track exists, but it needs maintenance, and we need a working steam engine.

cool pics!
that looks like an old GM EMD GP9 (or maybe a GP7, i can't tell the difference anymore).
i was a railfan & model railroader for a number of years way back when.

Tim- Yep! You're right. That's a gp9-Note the bulge at the top 3/4 of the right side- I believe that's the dynamic braking.

There's a 5 locomotive lash up, stuck in Eureka. They haven't moved since 2000 or so.

Really sad.

holy huge picture batman!

i have pictures i took when i was in grade school of a southern pacific yard in los angeles with a couple hundred derelict diesels parked like that, it's pretty sad to see them going to rust like that.

oh yeah, i also have a set of 3 nathan airchime locomotive air horns mounted on my motorhome. they are loud.
real loud.

really-really friggin loud! :scottm:

Mine is the FBG.

And I just bought this for it.

The plate will get spliced into the top of the bumper, and the winch will be set slightly inside the grill.

It's a smittybilt xrc8 comp, with the synthetic rope.

did you get a cover for it? if not, buy one. it will protect the rope from uv rays for the times you travel away from your fog banked county.

Yeah, I'll get a cover for it.

Hoping that I can install it within 2 weeks.

Going to the bay next week to see MastodoN, so maybe the weekend after.

I work 30+ hours a week plus school so I've busy. That and my girlfriend, and the volunteer work for the trains... I'm busy!

They are good. I'm hoping I can see Rammstein next month in LA.

Hey dudes. Here's my jeep lately. Haven't had time to come on naxja as much anymore.

I still havent installed my winch, my friend Matt who owns a shop in Eureka has been slammed with business, good for him, but he hasn't had time to help me. Soon though I hope.

Hauling The Timber Heritage speeder crew car- This thing was so freaking heavy. It's only a passenger car, and I only towed it about 1/2 a mile to the main line of track, but it was fun!

And here is what I did on 4th of July- crew for speeder rides in Old Town Eureka.

Bezel cut for the drum to fit, only an 8 inch section had to be cut out I believe.
