IMHO, all mobil oils are good (SM rated oil is worthless for flat tappet cams), but the Mobil 1 High Millage is the best they make for our 4.0 jeeps. I think Mobil 1 HM is rated at 1000 PPM ZDDP, and is rated SL. So, this means they are better for flat tappet lifters, new or rebuilt. ZDDP will only increase the life of the engine. Who wants that? Not me! :bs:solditforajeep said:K switching to a Mobil just seems most of you guys run it and its readlily availible so whats the deal with Mobil Clean High Mileage? I do like that it says helps restores seals, who knows if it works or not.

Mobil 1 HM is SL rated. Royal Purple is great oil, its just more expensive that M1.javajeep said:Stumpalump,
My source is just reading many threads on this forum. If you look at those threads, they will also link to more credible sources. I am still open minded on this, I wish that it was not so hard to find an API-SL oil. But, after reading these threads, I think it is important. Hot Rod magazine also had an article on this issue.
For a while all diesel oil was good or better because they removed most ZDDP from regular oil to stop harm to catalitic converters. I think it's just a matter of time before they phase out that oil because the new diesels require a new oil. In fact I read that Ford is requirering an oil sample with all engine warrenty claims so they can void claims from those that use the old oil. This crap seems like it changes every month and this thread may be worthless by summer.RyanM said:Turbo Diesel M1 5 40 is Delvac rebottled!
