They actually had a decent write up on disecting a 231. They had a few lately...and the subscription was actually cheap.

4wd and sport utility was the last one I subscribed to but it ran out. Now all I get is my freebie Off Road Adventures...(sad I know)

Doc, I get that mag too...for whatever reason, $WPW had better prices on Spicer 4.56s this winter than anyone else, and more importantly theirs were in stock...everyone else was out of stock 'til April unless I wanted "Genuwhine"

Kinda like shopping at wal-mart. You know you should feel guilty for it and maybe even do but....you still shop there.

Ohhhhhh no. Not Wal-Mart! I draw the line there They only supplied the gears, I needed to get a screaming pair of used 4.56 out of it and there was no way I was going to wait until April (or later) to get 'em.

Back (somewhat) on topic, I read Vern's comments about stupid questions and immediately thought of the constant barrage of "what tires/lift" and "show me pics of a Red XJ with exactly 4.25" lift..." BS that we're getting. I guess that certainly indicates he does have a readership after all.

Probably -- Doctor Vern IS a joke. So's the entire magazine, come to think of it. A wealth, an absolute treasure trove, of misinformation regarding all things Jeep.

Doc vern was on BTW1 for the JP magazine writeup in his Green XJ...pretty good guy. I think he sold the xj though

I dropped the subscription after coverage of a SEMA show where they had more photos of bikini's than products. All the rags have gotten to be the same..ad..ad..ad..ad..crummy self appreciating article..ad..ad..ad.ad..drove 2,000 miles to buy a piece of junk with water in the master cylinder for $500 and drove 26 hours with gum wrapper foil for a headlamp fuse and only two tickets home..ad..ad..ad..ad..index of paid advertisers...jeep stuck in mud.

I thought the article was funny as hell. Pretty real world actually.......for some.

The whole Dr Vern column is tongue in cheek.....not to be taken seriously.


BTW, Vern still has an XJ.
