Many of you may have seen posts from Gordon about letters he has been receiving with Teraflex key chains in them. These are affectionately known as “The Gordon Letters”.
Here’s the story…
Several Sierra Chapter events ago during the chapter raffle, Gordon was having great fun stuffing handfuls of these Teraflex key chains into everyone’s winning raffle prizes (a practice he had done at many raffles before). Several of the chapter members got to talking and thought it would be a lot of fun if they could figure out a way to somehow give them all back to him. After much discussion the idea hatched that it would be pretty funny if he started receiving them in the mail, one by one, over some length of time.
So, they started collecting the key chains and putting them in envelopes to send. Through the efforts of maybe 6-8 members, and some of their friends across the country, the mailings began in August of last year. Since then, Gordon has been steadily receiving letters, nonstop, about one every day from about 20 different states. At first it was just a few, then there were more. When Gordon announced he would be stepping down as President of the Chapter it only made sense to mail even more Gordon Letters.
There have been well over 250 Gordon Letters created and made ready to mail and the group estimates that Gordon must have received about 200 of them so far.
Gordon Letter Program has now been terminated.
This was initiated and carried out as a friendly prank by a group of Gordon’s friends and they hope that it can accepted in the manner it was intended. The group also thanks Gordon for his years of service to the Chapter and they all hope to see him on the trail soon.
