Yet another... Build thread for an xj on 40s and one tons in norcal

97+ takes 5 minutes to adjust the hatch.. I just had to do it after I got a little love tap at Hollister haha

you said bleepin jeep has a video? Mine got worse after my love tap at Frank Raines :(

Ya there's some video out there..I had to do it when I very first got the jeep. The little clip just slides up after a while. Super easy to fix. Just need a Phillips and a t30

So after more research im going to order bronze upper kingpin bushings and swap those in and some get a couple Sets of studs for the high steer arms for trail spares. I also plan to replace the lower king pin covers as well. That should cure whats left of the wandering / tire bouncing issue after all the new heims .

replaced the rest of the heims too

waiting on new lower kingpin covers to button up the front.

Mounted 2 of the new tires today.

fixed the AC issue among a bunch of other things.

swapped out the studs for some ARP studs for piece of mind. going to swap in the REID bronze upper kingpin bushings and new lower covers. all new heims up front.

I need to keep the new tires from getting sliced so I added 1 hockey puck per side and cut another 1" off each fender to prevent that from happening. these new tires look sweet.

I still need to bump stop the rear and make some axle side extensions and bolt on the frame side stops. kinda like alan's setup.

also, I noticed I have 35 spline outers, they look to be chromo, but the inners look to be possibly stock. not sure. ordering yukon hubs, they aren't cheap, but the piece of mind with be worth it...

40" tires are a truly large. Very impressive. But can you park it a Safeway? :)

Lets see some pics with the new 40's on it.

Front end is still apart. And the rear needs bumpstops welded up. So tires might sit a little longer. Few more days....
I installed new lower kingpins and new reid bronze upper kingpin bushings.

I set preload on the upper kingpins to 20ft lbs. artec
High steer arms

Welded up some 1.75 .250 DOM on the rear with some top plates for axle side bumpstops . Bolted up my old rustys extends bumpstops . Got the front end back together. Tightened the super loose u bolts too. Set toe in to 1/8" .

Not much left to do. Fix tcase linkage and rear hatch. Weld rear bumper frame
Separation. Leaf clamps. Mostly it

Damn thing is acting like it has very little power steering . Need to bleed it better. Any tricks or tips for bleeding the hydro?

Double nut on the driver side arm just to be safe

Where is the switched hot inside the cab on the 1998 xjs ? My cig lighters are constant hot
But my new usb thingy has a led that I don't want to run 24/7 and kill the battery

Wiring porn
15$ on Amazon for all my aux shit

Ive left one of those chargers in wilbur for weeks at a time. It has a bright blue led(actually quite annoyingly bright at night). It has never drained the battery, not even close.

Ok cool I'll just wire it up then.

Got the assist bled and that wiring done. Now the tcase. It wnt
Hold 4lo.
On the trail I had to hold the lever in 4lo the whole
Time. Which sucks . Tried the linkage tonight and it won't even hold 4lo going in n out of the garage. I tried a handful of times again tonight and it just won't hold. Tried different lengths and different holes in the boost works linkage

Any ideas ?

Ill change the fluid and mess with the linkage a few more
Times

I'm over it and about to order an atlas 3.8 .
