work party, escondido

hit the jy today and scored complete wj steering, some big heims for my 3 link, and a cold air intake which i'll have to fab some brackets up to work. so steering is covered now, just gotta deal with a few things on the axle and i can start putting it in.

Ding Ding Ding!!!! :yelclap: Might be a little less likely to bend it up Dan... Key word... MIGHT! LOL
my tie rods havent bent from impact and the wj tie rod is QUITE a bit beefier than the xj one. this is going to have to hold me over until i can afford something fancier.

Not going to work with crossover.
I flipped mine, but the hot ticket is to use an aussie drivers side knuckle, and make a ghetto high steer

howd you flip it?
Drill/ goferit nutsert? for OTK? Heard a few people do the RHD dragink to run a cheaper OTK. But with the WJ crossover you could run it up top easy.

worked my ass off today... got the rest of the brackets and gussets welded on the d44 and the shaft seals installed. the axle is now sitting under the heep, only the lower control arms are connected.
i also got the shock towers finished, and the front bumper modified so that the brackets fit over the frame stiffeners, and the bumper and steering gearbox is installed.
the air intake is finished, and the relay box has a new home, although still need to drill a couple screw holes.
the things i have left are:
make spacers for the unit bearings on the wj knuckles
install ujoints in shafts
install new ball joints and assemble knuckles/hubs/brakes
install steering linkages
make a track bar
make a new body side 3 link upper control arm bracket and weld it on
make 3 link upper arm and install
bolt in coilovers
make shock tower brace

hopefully i can put a good dent in all that tomorrow

I wish I could take the day off and help you. I am having withdrawals from grinding dust and welding smoke! :D

haha i'm certainly over it, cant wait to finish this crap...
turns out i can use my old track bar if i weld in a insert at one end, so that'll save me some time. it's almost done. control arm bracket material just came off the saw, another 15 min on that and it's ready. got the axle centered under the heep so i can bolt in the track bar and be done with that.

got her all together and did a quick shakedown run at lawrence welk today. everything pretty muck worked as expected, just need to trim the fenders a little more and maybe relocate the brake lines a hair. one little pic for now, almost fully flexed out, had a couple inches to go, and nothing was even close to hitting except maybe the tires on the fenders.
overall, pretty happy with it. road manners are decent, no noise, shakes, or wobble. the grizzly locker is a little nicer on the road than the lockright i had in my dana 30, you dont even notice it.
