work party, escondido

Was just added because.

Hey Vanimal, got those skyjackers in last night. HUGE improvement in the ride quality! Still a bit stiff but its my shitty bastard pack.

On a funny side note, I think these are a lil on the too long side but still a huge improvement from too short! Lol.

that's what she said!

got one of the frame stiffener plates cut out and ready to weld on (aside from cleaning the uniframe rails). i'm doing the front in pretty much the same mannor as the rear.
the coilovers will be at about 50% droop, so 6" uptravel and 6" of downtravel. approx 5" of lift. assuming i got my corner weights right...

also got my axle back from Jeeper John with the gears installed. i just need to gusset the inner c's on that, move one bracket, make my spacers for the wj swap, and assemble the rest of it.

got a little work done today. almost finished with one shock tower. all i have to do is weld on the top plate, it got too dark to finish it today. i set the coilover in there just to check my spring rates and it's fairly close. it's sitting about an inch lower than i had planned, however i have little to no preload on the springs, so when it's set right it should sit at about 5" of lift which is what i was aiming for. it will have approximately 6" of uptravel and 6" of droop, give or take a hair.

the remote resi will be inside the engine compartment. the shock is just sitting in there for now. the dana 30 is still in it so it's just sitting on top of the coil bucket.

Man you're running out of time.Looking good
the axle is pretty close to ready. just gotta weld on a couple things. hoping to get the second shock tower done by the end of this weekend. then it's a few hours to swap in the new axle and ready to ride!

thanks man!

i don't know what i'm more excited about, the axle, the coilovers, or the fact that i wont bend my friggin uniframe anymore from bumping the front bumper over rocks.

thanks! just finished the passenger side, getting ready to do the driver's side. hopefully these will by done by the end of the weekend.

if anyone has an aftermarket air intake (not the manifold but something like a CAI of the thru firewall one) that they're willing to sell, let me know. the stock airbox won't fit. might be able to work with it a little to get it in there, but it's going to be tight.

Toight like a Toiger?

some pics of the passenger side. the 4 holes on the top are for a brace that will run between the 2 shock towers to stiffen it up some. obviously the relay box is just pushed out of the way. i will make a new bracket for it, there's plenty of room.

You need a cowl intake or a cone? I have a K&N cone you can have for a sixer.

thanks, i could use a cone but i need the whole system, carb legal. not just the filter.

got a little done today. picked up a gusset kit for my axle's inner c's. got the frame stiffener for the driver's side finished, and the uniframe rail stripped and ready to weld it on. i *may* get the driver's side finished tomorrow, assuming i dont run out of welding gas and time.

as i was chemical stripping the rust off the 3/16" plate i saw it was marked as chromoly. so apparently i made everything out of chromoly instead of hot rolled like i assumed.

Nice Hi-lift .!.:D.!.
yea yea, i havent forgotten, i just have to remember to grab a piece of metal when i'm at the metal supply place. :D

got most of the driver's side done today, just gotta finish the top plate which shouldnt take more than an hour. then i gotta modify the track bar bracket to fit around one of the gussets. i may just weld the track bar bracket on.... i cant think of much i'd need to remove it for. talk me out of it if i'm wrong.
the brake master cyl is close, but i checked and i can remove it. it's actually sitting a little low in the picture because i didnt tighten it back up yet. can't wait to get this thing finished.... i wanna go wheeling!!!
as of now i am still on track to be able to go to big bear next weekend. another day left on the body, another day for the axle, and maybe another day to wrap up anything like the relay box relocation and making a new intake since i cant use the stock airbox anymore.
