Dude, I gotta get you to make me some of those!

i still have the template i made out of poster board, you're more than welcome to borrow it. just cut it out with your plasma like i did. i cleaned up the edges on the mill because i'm anal like that, but far from neccesary.
side 2 is just about done, now i gotta clean up the other frame rail and remove the other shackle bracket so i can weld them on.

btw, do you know if i need to pull the carrier and/or ring gear to install a lockright-like locker in a d30 with 4.56's?

You will at least need to pull the carrier due to some genius bean counter deciding to use a roll pin to retain the cross shaft.

^this.. And as far as the ring gear... If its a super thick one like mine is then you will have to remove the ring gear off the carrier to slide the cross pin out.. I know i know... grind a little off the teeth. In my case i would have to grind 3 FULL teeth all the way off to get cross pin out. LOL

got both sides cut out and rosette holes drilled. this is how it will look mounted. plenty of room for the coilovers in there. now i need to make the side plates to start boxing it in. hopefully they'll be all ready by the end of the weekend so i can start bolting in the rear axle and 3 link.

16" fox coilovers on 3 inches of lift lol
might be a bit excessive, but i couldnt see spending that much money and deciding i wanted more lift or travel in the future. This way they're good enough for whatever i decide to do.
still need to get some for the front, pretty sure they're going through the hood a little
i'll have to do a pretty extreme fender and rear quater trim to fit 33's with this much travel.

so i got a little more work done. one rear plate is cut out. it will tie into the side of the body, the wheel well, and the floor. the side of the body and floor will be plated in those areas to distribute the load. this plate also acts as the gussets to the top of the floor/frame rail and to the side of the frame rail. this should give it a decent amount of rigidity. the front plate will also do the same thing.

guess i could have just done it an easier way, but i didnt want to loose much cargo room, and i didnt want anything open to the elements inside. I also didnt want it to look too ghetto, but i guess i should wait to see how this turns out before i say that haha

got the front plate cut out, now i think it is starting to look like what i had pictured. the plates are just sitting there now, it will all fit together without the gaps you see in the pics when it's actually secured in place.
i'm planning on adding some windows in the plates so i can access the bolts to take the shocks out and fill them with nitrogen. however, i think using any sort of spanner wrench in there is going to be impossible, so i think i'll have to unbolt the top and lower it to do any adjustments. we'll see when it's all welded up. what do you guys think so far? is it a waste of metal? lol
