work party, escondido

didnt get a whole lot done today, spent most of it doing actual work. i did manage to get all the little plates done. i hate doing these, it seems like a lot of work for very little gains lol
tomorrow i have a few access holes to cut in some of the larger plates, then i can begin welding. i'm hoping to get one side finished so i can mount a coilover to see how close the spring rates are.

Hey Dan, are you going to brace those two towers for strength? Like connecting them with a tube?

picked up a ford high pinion d44 this morning. it has the right gearing already, just need to order a stator kit for my elocker, and find some waggy shafts or something for when i shorten it. guess i need new wheels too....
ill probably still slap in the built d30 for the time being and take my time with the d44. i want to go coilovers in the front eventually, so i think i will wait until i have those before i swap it in so i dont have to weld on coil buckets then cut them off.

due to the POO POO LIKE weather, i didnt get a whole lot done today. got the access holes cut out, got the frame stiffener section on one side welded in, and all but one plate welded in on that side. i still have some welding to do from underneath, but it's raining and i didnt feel like doing it. i'm pretty happy with how it came out so far, it is solid as hell. i do not think i'll need a cross brace between the two, it's not going anywhere.
i still haven't even welded the gusset sections to the frame stiffener, so it will only get even stiffer. in hindsight, i think 3/16" plate was overkill, but oh well.
had a little trouble getting a decent bead in some of the tighter corners, but it will hold. everything fit together fairly well.
plates that tie in the body to the floor and wall.

you know it, sister!
i did a zigzag finger snap when i said that, but you probably didn't see it.

scored these today on CL down the street for 160. 4 33x12.5x15 mtr's with about 50% or so tread depth on rims with new centercaps and new locking lug nuts. cant use the rims since they're 6 lug, but i figured i could sell or trade them for the 5x5.5 rims i need for the new axles.

If you need new wheels anyway... you can sell me your old American Eagle rims...
i would feel a little guilty about asking you what i would need to get out of them. i was hoping to sell them with the tires on CL for as much as i could since i'm going to have to take a massive hit on them (3-4 month old km2's, a little chewed). dismounting is the killer too. i was hoping you already found your spare so this wouldnt come up haha
