Right there is the problem.
Around here the cyclists want it both ways and then some.

Pull out in front of me after running the light/stop sign and you will need to change your tight little spandex shorts.

wow brother, get any sleep last night? Just to clear things up for ya, and forgive me if someone else already has, but a person on a bike does not have the right-of-away over a pedestrian. Cyclist have to obey all the rules of the road same as any motorized vehicle. A pedestrian does not. The basic speed law, which DOES apply to cyclsist, says you can not travel at an unsafe speed. So a pedestrian crossing the street, that gets hit by a cyclist, is not at fault, the cyclist is. So before you go calling other people stupid, maybe you should pay attention to proverb 17:28. :)
That would be this one:

Check out this thread to see why sometimes our view of things from just one video angle, may not always justify a guilty verdict. This is by the way, the video Tommyr was referring to in his post on page six of this thread.

After watching video one, I would say that was a bad shooting, after watching video two, I would say its a good shooting.
Concerning the cyclist video, whos got video number two. Anyone, Anyone?
As Ive said all along, give me more evidence and I will reconsider what I see.

But that's the whole point: A three second video just won't give you the whole story.

Our sound-bite drive-by generation expects things to always be that simple, but they're usually not.

Edit: There was a "cylist video number two" (posted by Matt Currie, post #13), that showed the whole mess of em running through (an apparently) red light.

I'm not arguing that this justifies a takedown, but it does show how just a little more information changes the situation a lot: The first video looked like it was just some dude riding a bike. The second showed that at the very least they were all, en masse, breaking the law and flaunting it at the cops.

Who knows what else we don't know, just because it wasn't caught on three (or six) seconds of video...

I respect your opinion but it doesnt match mine.
I hold cops to a higher standard than the average Joe because of the responsibility level of their job, similar to doctors and politicians, they have jobs where their decisions have huge consequences in the lives of other people. So, yes I do scrutinize and question what they do. I watch a video and I make a judgement based on the video itself. It may only be a 6 second video but its all I have to make that judgement. If I have more evidence, then my opinion may change.
If you think about it, as much crap as I give cops, they still get by with more than the average person does.
Im a truckdriving instructor. If one of my students does something I dont like or doesnt do something I tell him to and I raise my voice, cuss at him or call him a name, theres a good chance I would lose my job. If I were to shove him or assault or even threaten him, I would definately without a doubt lose my job. All it would take is for me to grab one student by the arm once and Im out the door, no questions asked. Im willing to bet that most of us are in the same situation where we work. Try shoving a coworker or customer against their desk sometime and see what happens.
Now with that in mind, are cops really being scutinized any harder than anyone else? In comparison to most of us, they get by with much more. You say you give them the benefit of the doubt. Not me. They get no more privilege than anyone else, actually less in my book because when they screw up, the consequences can be disastrous for others.
I...hold...doctors and politicians...huge...crap.

That's gross dude, you should look into seeing someone about that, I think you could sue.

See what happens when you take portions of something and twist them to what you want to say? You said that, in your post, I just took out all the UNNEEDED words to make it seem like I wanted it to seem. Sweet man, until I see further evidence I'll always assume you hold doctors shit for fun...

So much for carrying on an intelligent conversation.

What if theres a third video or a fouth video that shows the cops doing coke or shows another cop holding a gun to that dirt bag's daughter and making him do what he did. What if you saw a video of the cops sticking a needle in the dudes arm right before the chase and the guy had a bad trip, would that change your opinion?
Anyone can make up stories that arent there, the only thing that is true is what you see. I watch a video and draw conclusions based on what I see. If I watch two videos, thats what I see, If I watch three of them, thats what I see. We never have the whole story.
The guy on the bike got knocked off his bike by a cop who, IN THE VIDEO, didnt appear to me to have a reason to do that. You can make up whatever story you want about the few minutes before the video but its just that, MADE UP, because you dont know any more than I do about what took place before the video was shoot.

Wanna buy a bridge? I have pictures.

As you say an i quote (the only thing that is true is what you see. ) So now your a child beater, right? They cut an edit just for this reason.. I don't need you here for this, just a pic will do..... See where i'm going with this! We don't know what is true in this video or the second one....

? I dont follow the child beater thing.
Anyway, My point about the videos is this, until there is something else to see, what have we to believe?
The dam video shows a cop knock a guy off his bike for no apparent reason. What is so wrong with saying that. Thats all Ive said this whole time. I dont know what happened before that, could be the cyclist fault, I dont know. What I do know is that the video show a cop knock him off his bike for no apparent reason. Do you see a reason why he did it? until I have a reason, Im going with what I see. "The cop knocked him off his bike for no reason".

So you tell me, what was his reason?

I used to just dislike cops, now Im starting to dislike people who unconditionally like cops.

Don't take this thread so seriously.

Relax, have some of your favorite beverage.

Walk away from the keyboard.

Have another beverage, and repeat as needed.

Im going camping this weekend. A little time in the woods sitting around a fire at night and paddling around the lake during the day may do the trick. I just hope DNR doesnt mess with me, it could get ugly.:twak:

A little followup:

Check out the complaint filed by the cop here:

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0729081bike1.html

And compare it with any version of the video you care to find. I don't care what your politics, your stance on police or on outlaw cyclists is. Try to make that complaint match in any way the event shown in that video. I believe that if you are willing to be fair minded and not ride your own prejudices into a wall, you will understand why this event has been so notorious.

Even the NYPD has had to take it seriously this time. Officer Pogan has been suspended.

Oh, Oh, pick me........can I say it now. Wonder why I dont trust cops.
Guess he thought by waiting for the last cyclist, he wouldnt get caught on video. Surprise, you're a liar.
