who's ready and who's not?

Well as of now I am not ready either. My pinion that was in my regear kit for my d30 is wrong. Of course I found this out after I pressed the inner bearing on. Damn thing is 1" longer than my stock pinion. Hopefully tommorrow randys ring an pinion can help me get a new one.

I order high pinion yukons from randys. Box was labeled high pinion reverse rotation so i dunno. I am going ot call them tommorrow with the length and numbers off the pinion and see what they say. Anymore nothing has been easy since I started this stupid regearing saga.

naah - ive not had the back 1/2 of my muffler nor my tail pipe since.... October 04...
i think you can put that off till after WF if you need too...

I would just leave it the way it is but with four little squirrels running around underneath the hood it can get pretty loud. It won't cost me much to get the rest of the exhaust put on so it will be on.

Well I am off to the junkyard for my rear springs and then to the parts store for some brake lines and gas line for some axle breather tube. Got my flange adapter off of a ford van. I wish it had the straps but using the clips isn't so bad. It was free so I won't complain.

Well, got the leaf springs from the local yard and all I can say is damn!! I was digging through a bin they had full of leaf packs from all kinds of trucks. I ended up taking a set of springs from the front of a 76 Ford for thirty bucks.

They have alot of arc to them. (Don't know if that was spelled right or not, oh well). They measure 51" from eye to eye and 10.5" from the center of the pack to make level from eye to eye. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

I used my xj main leaf with three from the other pack and put them together on the bench. Go to put them under the jeep and it is to short. So I took the pack apart and bolted in the xj main. Then I used some C clamps and got the other leafs close enough to put in the center pin. I put on the leaf clamps after.

after all that they should put me at about 3.5" maybe 4". I think they are going to be pretty stiff and give some flex. Won't be able to tell until I get the axle underneath and set the jeep down on it. This pack pulled my shackle pretty far forward. I hope it doesn't ruin it.

I hope this doesn't get this thread moved for kindof talking some tech but I think that I did pretty good today for a couple hours of work and a few bucks. Just goes to show almost anybody can do almost anything if they put some time into it.

I was planning on replacing Ball Joints this weekend, but the ones I ordered from Tellico4x4.com are on back-order. They returned my email and said they expect them in the first of next week. Tellico4x4 sells a set of Spicer (T&B both sides) for a little over $100 incl. shipping. By name alone, I'd assume these are decent joints.

Ball Joints will go in next Saturday even if I have to cancel the order and buy locally. Since I am going to "borrow" the ball joint press from a local Autozone, maybe I should buy their joints. Anyone have any experience with the ball joints they sell?

Thanks Rev ... good to know. Should have asked in the original post, but did you go with straight joints or did you install the off-set joints?

And he's a great guy to deal with, too!
Thanks guys for the recommendation ... I'll check out his site and keep him in mind. Evidently, the email I sent "explaining" my sense of urgency in getting these parts asap did some good ... they arrived today via Fed Ex 2-day Air @ no additional charge. Total including shipping was $106.85.

I bet it took the guy a day just to find your house...or maybe he has experiance from bringing sunlight to your area.

:D

:laugh3: Actually, the Fed Ex man knows our family. Matter of fact, one day while Dad was alive, he got away from Mom (Alsheimers Disease). He was heading up the road, going who know where. The Fed Ex man, knowing of Dads condition, stopped and picked him up and took him back home. Great guy ...

BTW: He dropped them off at work for me ... saved him probably 30 miles!
