2001 XJ Power Door Lock issue and battery drain

Hello everybody!

I have been fighting this issue for a little over a year and I hope I can finally get it lined out with a little help.

When I purchased this jeep the power door locks & front door speakers did not work at all. So I pulled the door panels/door jam boots and re soldered all the broken/frayed wiring in all of the door jams including the tailgate. Speakers worked, but no power door locks.

Fuses are fine.

Next, I replaced both of the drivers side door lock/window switches and the passenger side door lock/window switches. At this point I could hear the passenger side window switches clicking when I would try to lock/unlock the doors, but only a click, the door locks would not actuate.

Next I investigated the the overhead keyless entry receiver and found that when I unplug the receiver all the doors unlock (on their own) and for a few minutes they are receiving a continuous unlock signal. I can hit the lock bottom and all the locks try to actuate but since they are in a lock/unlock battle they stay in the unlock position. After a few minutes they relax, and go back to where I can only get them to click when hitting the switch, door locks don’t actuate.

Now I’m dealing with a battery drain issue and no power door locks…. Oddly enough, when the overhead receiver is plugged in the battery is pulled down minimally (the locks aren’t constantly receiving an unlock signal, vs when the overhead receiver is unplugged, it’s pulling the battery down by -.04v.

Any ideas ? I feel like I’m one fix away from having this issue lined out, I’m just stuck scratching my head. Thanks in advance

I have seen A pillar trim screws go right thru the wire harness.

Try unplugging the Overhead Console wire harness from the fusebox.

Locate the the power lock relay and swap it with another.

Thanks for the input. I gave it a try but it resulted the same as unplugging the overhead console keyless entry receiver -when I unplug the receiver all the doors unlock (on their own) and for a few minutes they are receiving a continuous unlock signal. Unplugging the OHC at the fuse box removes the wire harness and the key-less entry module from the suspect list. If there is no improvement in the original symptoms, there likely is door wiring issues, or door switch module issues.

If there is an aftermarket key-less entry or security system, both the aftermarket control module and the installation workmanship is suspect.
