who's got a mini cooper?

My sister in law has a cooper S.
Hopefully my brother sees this thread and posts up.
I believe it gets somewhere around 30, but he's also put an intake on it and isn't afraid of the skinny pedal. It's got a 6 speed I believe. Real fun, it handles like a go cart that will do 135.

That's definately encouraging cause I am tired of my hybrid and I need something with semi decent fuel economy. And yeah... 6speed S is what I'm looking at.

I ran one over once. I thought it was a speed bump at first. :)

They are cool cars. I would be interested in one if I did not need the room.

I think you gotta rock premium in the S though. so that's a downer
My brothers screen name is RedHeapOjeep
Might want to Pm him and ask. They've had it a few years now.

My sister in law has one too, [gee, trend here, chicks car maybe :D ]...it's an S, takes preimum and has alot of room inside though it has no spare, tires are runflats.. battery is in the back where the spare would go.. little rocket on rollerskates for sure but then they always were, the real old ones had an MGB GT engine in them.. been looking at the new convertable but the preimum bothers me...thats another .30+ cents a gallon around here.

yeah, the rundown on the run flats is that they suck. My brother hates them. They are super stiff, and don't grip that well. If you look around on the mini board apparently you can get like new factory run flats, just like you can buy new wheels and tires here from people upgrading.

My mom wanted one forever. She always likes weird/ugly cars (she has a Honda Element now... : / ) Anyway, she test drove one and decided it just wasn't big enough... However, she said it was very zippy and fun. I think they're "burfy" mobiles. Buy a real car, yah know?

Holly city driving her Cooper S convertable automatic averages some 25 +/-. The last time I took it on a commute I averaged 28 +/-. The last time we took it far if I recall I got some 35 +/-, been awhile... The coupe should get better mileage.

Also call Enterprise. It would be worth it to rent one for a day or two and put it through your normal paces to see exactly what mileage YOU will get. South Bay Mini has an Enterprise agency on site for their loaners, they may rent to regular people too, check into that. If they don't just ask them what Enterprise will rent Mini's; Enterprise does have non-standard vehicles, you just have to find them.

We've seen 32-36 on the highway, never less. 34,000 miles and 3 years. You don't need premium necessarily, you need 91, but it's difficult to find a gas station with a plus grade above 89, so we usually use 93. An extra 25 cents a gallon works out to about an extra $3.00 a tankful. Not really an arguement when you consider a tank will take you 350-400 miles.
If you're looking for a commuter car, you can stick with the base cooper, but for an extra 2k, there's nothing like the smile on your face from doing 90 around corners. My 5 month old son smiles everytime he hears the supercharger whine.

hey hey, glad you found the thread.
Anyway, I can attest that his 24 year old brother also smiles when you hear the supercharger whine, but the smile promptly turns to another lok when you take a gravelly corner at 135 and feel the stability control kick in.
