I have a 2000 XJ SE with a 2.5 5-speed and 4.10 gears. I currently have a 40-tooth gear in the car, and I am running P215/75R15 tires. I plan on mounting P235/75R15s. The dealership can sell me either the 39 tooth or the 37 tooth gear. Which one do I need? Thanks!

with 4.10's and a 40 tooth gear you should be about right on, depending upon the actual diameter of your 235's you might go to a 39 tooth gear, here are the part numbers

- 52067639 - 39 tooth Speedo gear
- 52067640 - 40 tooth Speedo gear

4:10
42 27" tires
41 28"
40 29"
39 29.5"

Thanks everyone, that table was very useful. I have a set of Goodyear Wrangler Radials that are sitting in the back just waiting to be installed. They are a little bit more agressive than the Wrangler APs that were stock. I'm going to go with the 39 tooth gear, the new tires are approximately 1/2 inch taller than stock.
