I hope you got some .120 wall or at least .090 wall on the re-tube. I had enough rear driveshaft carnage with a shortbed shaft, I don't like even thinking about adding more length to that. I'm glad those days are over for me.slowrider said:Yet more rocker damage and dented the last 1 1/2 foot of my rear driveshaft bad enough that it drove like a paint shaker, so I excersized my AAA+ membership and had it towed from Victorvill to Westminster which saved me so much that the AAA+ is paid for for the next 10 years. I called the Jeep yards and they all wanted $150 for a used longbed MJ driveshaft while driveline specialties re tubed and balanced mine and added 2 new ujoints for $170. Why are the AMC yards such a rip off? Thanks to all who worked so hard to put the event together, it was a blast.

oh, and someone has to say it "go square or go home!"
shelbyluvv said:blew rear shock (on the dirt road home out of the lake bed)
bent and leaking rear diff cover
candy cane pin stripes on rear drive shaft (might have knocked it out of balance, felt a vibe on the way home)
totally bent rear shock mount
Figure all this damage was from the 1st time Jeeper I let handle my rig. He is hooked now and is looking for a XJ. Well worth the little bit of damage.
was probably mine, the tires and wheels I had down there I just got used a few weeks ago and had a TON of wheel weights on them. I didn't get a chance to tear 'em off and add airsoft pellets.mikedashg said:Were you on clawhammer? I found a freshly ripped wheel weight on the trail. 3 oz worth. I was thinking. "Someomes going to get a little vibe the next time they are on the fwy!"

cal said:I'm glad you made it home ok. I didn't really feel great about our leaving you at the gas station, but it was effin late and I had a hard time keeping my eyes open on the drive home as it was. I forgot to mention I get a pretty hefty discount at OC driveline.. next time hit me up.
slowrider said:Don't worry about leaving me at the gas station, I didn't want everyone stuck there because I don't carry a spare rear driveshaft or a plug for the t case. Besides AAA was on the case. Thanks for the O.C. driveline offer too; I've been using drivetrain Industries due mostly to proximity, there right around the corner.
Thanks I might have asked for it had I known I needed one before leaving camp but the Vibes that allerted me to the damage wasn't obvious until I got on the highway and up to around 45 MPH. Where can I pick one up? The longbed MJ has a long enough rear shaft that the SYE is not needed.mikedashg said:Someone needed a plugzit? I had one.
Cool thanks; that's within driving distance.xjohnnyc said:Here ya go Curt. Finally found a place that sells them.

Yup confused as usual.xjohnnyc said:Alabama?? That's a long drive.![]()
Not to be confused with T&J.
Thanks Cal. I don't think the truck will be moving until after the next M&G.cal said:Well, I have one of those plugs sitting in my garage. I'll give it to you at the next m&g. Your a long wheelbase, so you will probably stay on the slip yoke for some time. After I went SYE, I had intended to keep it in the jeep incase someone else needed it. Since I clearly have failed to do so, I might as well give it to someone who's very likely to need it again.
