What I need to get done before Winterfest

get the 4 ft long cooler off of the loft and begin stocking........

My Optima is not holding a charge. Not buying a new one tho, my jumper box will make the ride with me.

My popcan buggy battery is in the same shape...

I might just swap it for the baby jeep...or just break down and buy one with all the extra part time I've been working...

...if I buy one, it will be the fourth yellow top I've bought since last summer...but this would be the first to replace another yellow top (5+ years old)

My first one I got 7 years out of, bought it brand new. This one I got about 5 years out of, bought it used at least a year old...I'm not mad at all. I will go buy another one...

If I buy online at advanced auto, I can get them 20% off and then go pick it up in the store...and then sometimes a coupon for another $50 off a later $100 purchase...

20% + off just by using the net...

I actually have two...the one in the XJ is perfect. never an issue.

The other one is in my Comanche. I have to keep recharging it. Even when I do and take off the negative cable, it still drains and doesn't hold a charge.

I will probably look online for one..thanks Mac

BOB, you wanna get rid of that one that keeps draining?

That is how Optimas fail....all at once.

Don't s'pose it is still under warranty?

Rev

The older warranty' (pre 2009) are better thand the newer warranty's.
I know I bought mine a few years ago....gotta dig for that receipt.

Air nibiler (sp?) is the tool of choice for cutting fenders. If there's going to be decent air I'll bring my nibiler. It's a 17 minute job. hint: don't remove flares until you get ready to cut, the dirt line makes a great cut line.
exactly what I do, except I usually freehand it with an angle grinder instead of using an air nibbler. The dirt line works great.

hmmmmm,

make it start again?

yeah., that's a good one for the list.

It would apear that the winter weathre has hosed me, the back half of my fuseblock is an ice cube.

heatgun tonight so I can take the connector off the back and fix it so the ignition goes back to working.

good times.

not to self, don't leave the hood cracked, cause then the seal at the firewall doesn't seal. :crying:
sounds like it needs a few nights in a heated storage area or garage. Way less likely to melt the insulation off...

I just bled the brakes on mine, but it's not making the trip :( All I need to do is buy a bunch of local beer, stick it in a crate and ship it to my brother, then buy some more beer when I get out there and ride down with him. Oh, and pack my clothes and buy some food.

I had heard varying reports about the quality of Optimas in the last few years, I went with a Diehard Platinum, story being that they are allegedly identical and made at the same factory as Odyssey batteries. I've been hard on mine, it can sit for months and still fire a vehicle right up, I've drained it down to zero and just a couple hours at 2A charging brings it back to life. I'd definitely buy another one. They're $200ish so I think more expensive than the Optimas are these days?

Of course all the cool battery boxes are for Optimas. :)

Something to think about if you're in the market for a new battery.

didn't get off work before dark last night and didn't feel like dealing with it.
I have a temp adjustable heat gun.

as it's dead, and the way it's parked, I've got no chance of moving it into the garage without it running. No worries, we'll make it to winterfest with a running pile, we always do.

all i got to do is filler up with gas and camping gear!!!

said screw it to the rest of the list...

20 bucks more than an optima....worth it to me. Mine went through my wreck then sat around on the garage floor for a year, then it got charged and its been good ever since.

thanks Brad for that info. I may have to order one. It'll have to wait until after WF.

Hey Brad, do you have any more ZJ bumpers for the bonfire:D

Aaron, did you gets yours online?

BOB

^^agreed. I hardly ever drive the XJ and it is not uncommon for me to have to charge up the Optima if it has sat in a cold barn for 3-4 months. But once I charge it it is good for a long time. I am running a red top though, not a yellow.
