Weekend is over...what did you get done?

This morning on my way into Land Between the Lakes I was entering the interstate in a construction zone, with PacificEd and High2By right behind me. The entrance lane ended abruptly and there was a semi that decided he wasn't interested in moving over and he sideswiped me. He missed the Jeep proper, and frankly all I saw was a blur of blue cab and my mirror exploding all over the side of my Jeep. It was a scary way to start the drive - especially since my 6 year old was sitting on the driver's side right behind me.

Whew, sounds like a close call.

Left my house at midnight Friday night, drove 4 hours to Uwharrie, slept in the tow bitch till 8, sat under a tent, donated some monies, wheeled a bit, left for home at 10pm, stopped at a rest stop, slept in the tow bitch again, made it home at 7:30am.

Moral of the story: Donating money to a good cause feels good and I couldn't be a truck driver.

That would have made me a nervous wreck with kids in the Jeep too.

I went wheeling with some friends at Choccolocco. Very dry considering how much rain we got Friday and a lot of the fun trails have water running down them naturally. I love my rig on one tons, I love my red labels, and I love my new truck. Great Saturday of wheeling.

Friday: finished fixing the leaf spring mount.
Saturday: Towed to URE Jamboree. Wheeled some. Towed home.
Sunday: Helped the GF's son fix his Chevy truck.

Should have let me know when ya'll left. Got an extra room at the house you could have crashed in for the night.

Yeah, I made it much closer to home in one shot that way, though.

I made it to SC. I was only 50miles from home but if I kept going I would have fell asleep and launched the tow bitch off an overpass or something fun like that.

And that would have sucked, because then we'd have the chore of doing a special election to fill your vacated VP seat, and what a hassle those are!

I might make a piece of plate to go between the upper and lower but I don't want to fool with taking it apart again. Lol

Bought a non shitty CB:

Last weekend did some cleaning out of the garage and organizing of 'junk' (old tires, lumber and scrap metal) on the property. Took a second to take a picture...nah...I don't have an offroad fettish. This doesn't even show everything!!

Tomorrow we're having Maddie's birthday party...she's 6!! Then Sunday I'm going to trailer the CJ5 to Jacksonville...may be trading it for another Scout II. Hate to give up the 5 but there are LOTS of them around...not so many scouts.

Get the Scout! More pics of the 1980 please.

I got started on my IH 1973 1110 4x4 again.

X2! When I become free of children I would like to get a CJ-6 and maybe a EB. Scout would be 3rd on my list of I have more money then sense DD vehicles......

Yeah I have an EB on my list...I know where one is right now but no $$ to blow on it.

Ed it's actually a '74...just has the square lights and '80 grill...the kid we bought it from had it on there and did not have the original '74 grill. The Scout I'm looking at is a '73 and is white too...345/727. The '74 is DD ready but having 4 vehicles on insurance already is like having another car payment each month...adding a 5th would suck (which is why I hope the '73 deal works!!)

Right now there's what looks to be a '75ish 1110 (I think) about 4 miles from my house...but the guy won't sell and it's literally been sitting in the same place for over a decade just rotting away.

Glen I want a CJ6 too...in fact I probably won't buy another CJ unless it's a 6 or a 2,3,3B. I actually had a '60 CJ6 that I paid $200 for(no title)...needed a tub but had the T-98 4 spd. Ended up selling it for the same $200 a few months later as we needed the money.

Of course I want an FC, FS Cherokee, and a J20 too.

My wife actually drove the '74 for several months as her DD when her accord was totaled a few years ago.

I really need to pull the starter on the rover and get it running...I'd love to tool around in that thing once in a while!

Sam wants an EB. My life goal is to haul jeep with jeep. The only way that looks to happen is a wagoneer powered by cummins or big block chevy.

There was a guy here locally that swapped in a AMC 401 in a waggy. It was nice!

Well the CJ5 is gone (sniff..had her for 5 years!!)

Now have a '73 Scout II next to the '74 Scout II in the garage.

DAMN I miss my CJ...but cannot wait to start driving this beast.

Needs tires and will have to do a fair bit of work on the ignition system (the guy put the dizzy in 180* wrong) but it runs and drives.

345 V-8 and 727 auto. D-30 open knuckle drums up front and D-44 rear.

Will post more and better pictures (of both) later this week. It was late and raining and ....yeah.

Anyone got some good 31's or 32's they wanna let go of for cheap...or trade for a kidney or 1/3 of a so so liver? :D

It's rained the last 9 days here so not much has gotten accomplished around the house or the jeeps. Hopefully going back to Choccolocco for the day on Saturday to wheel with a friend and then can park the parts Jeep on the trailer to really start stripping it apart.

I did buy new tires for my truck on Friday though. General Grabber AT2's 285/75/16. I only bought them because someone wanted to buy my old work out tires for half the price of these.

And while at this rickety little tire shop I found a picture of my old bumper on someone's Jeep. I can tell it's mine from the skull that is now lime green and the fact it is slightly bent at the driver fender from harlan.
