Weekend is over...what did you get done?

You can only know true happiness once youve driven a crawler with a well setup 3 link. Radius arms are just not enough function for the use our rigs see

^= truth.

I thought that my T&T radius arms were the cat's meow, that is until I built a real 3 link. Much more stable, no more 'radius arm boogie' as I like to call it, the rapid hopping up and down of the front axle in loose, tire spinning, uphill conditions.

Radius arms work great for street/light trail riding.

Got a new ride Tuesday.....

I'm cool with the sign and drive part. Not so much with the paying monthly part. It's brandy new?

Yea me either, and yea it had 20 miles when I drove it off the lot. I'm digging the millage so far.

I bet. I've never bought a new car. Probably never will. Sure would be nice though. I jsut can't swallow paying 30k for a car. I could buy 15 decent Jeep's for that.

2.0 TDI, manual?! :)

Close, auto. Manual's are hard to find with the premium and navigation. This is the first new car I have bought sense 97 when I bought a new TJ. This will be the DD lets go to the beach/mountains ride when the Jeeps are broke. ;)

Nice new ride! What happened to the diesel Merc?

Still have it. LG is driving it to and from school now. He got his restricted last week. Even though he has to start it with a screwdriver...... I think it builds character. I need to get the 98 jeep back drivable and that car fixed. :gag:

Monthly payments aren't too much fun, but peace of mind and the fact you're not inheriting somebody else's problems make up for it

We've discussed this before but I'll post the short story anyway.

I'd be willing to bet that the sum of money I've spent on repairs on all of my vehicles combined split evenly per month over the last 5 years would be far less than the monthly car payment on a 2014 Kia Sorento.

I'll gladly make a $200 repair once every 6 months instead of making a $400 a month car payment.

I'd love to have a new car though.

I amended it for you and it rings true for me!

In other news, I ordered a can of the Mopar spray paint from Quadratrac. Holy crap, that stuff is great. I touched up the primer on all my rust spots, over the bare metal cuts I made on all 4 wheel wells and I can't even see a blend line.

I was especially pleased since my color was not one that lasted in Jeep's line up for very long. It has been phased out since the early 2000's. I couldn't even buy the can from either of the Jeep dealers near me. They both said their "books only go back as far as 2004" and couldn't find my paint code.

I installed these here fancy Deavers:

I moved the shackle back one hole after I took this picture.

I had to go to the store and replace the centering pins so they would fit in the axle. I just used a 7/16 4" grade 8 bolt and rounded the head off to work.

Also ordered some boomerang shackles to help the interference of the shackles to the brackets. Got my red synthetic winch line and can already tell it is going to turn pink... I need someone to let me mount the winch in their bumper and spool the cable on under tension.

Looks good Will. Wanna see the boomerang shackles when you done. How is the ride quality on the deavers

Freaking sweet. They're stable as hell. I was driving like I wanted to flip it over and the body roll was a minimum, from playing in a ditch they flex great, and I didn't pay anything near $700 for mine. They feel like they don't have any wrap to them at all either. Like a 3 leaf wrap from the frame eye and 10 "leafs" thick at the axle. Boomerangs should be here Saturday, or at least I hope.

I got 16.7 MPG on my last tank with running the AC some. Jeep runs great and I'm super happy with it now. Just need to finish the cage, build a bumper, and figure some mounts out for the interior and I'll be good to go for a while.
