Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Yeah im a little jealous. It has bondo in the driver quarter and the usual wheelwell and rear floor rust but its in great shape. And most of the engine/trans have been rebuilt by the po

My Scout-O-Meter went off!!!!

That looks like a pretty nice Scout for the south. I wish I had one that looked that good.

The good news is he can buy new quarters, tail light caps and floor panels to fix it back to new. Super Scout Specialists has all the stuff and their metal patch panels are the best out there. Quarters and tail light caps are made from original IH tooling out of high-quality steel.

He needs to go the Scout and IH Light Truck Nationals August 8-10, 2014 in Troy, OH to get his fill on everything IH. Lots of parts on hand at fair prices too - new and used.

Sold my 2012 Duramax, apparently the dealership really wanted to buy it back and I put a ton of money back into my bank account. Did a front brake job on the 98 xj and ordered some new rear springs. About to get cracking on the 05 unlimited build up.

Did a little poking around on the transmission that pissed on me. The torque converter rides on a bushing inside the input seal and is more than likely what was leaking. I lifted it up with the engine lift and it got all cattywompus and was nose heavy and ran out in a good stream onto the driveway, not sure if it should even with a good bushing and seal, but it did. Loaded it up in the truck and took it to the transmission shop about 3/4 of a mile from my house and they will replace both seal and bushing for $50-60. They're going to take it apart and make sure they get the right parts because there are apparently multiple bushing sizes..? Who knows. They're the experts.

Replaced shitty 80's technology sealed beams with the factory projectors that were an option....muuuuch better!

Went and looked at this for my dad two months ago:

2000 B3000 (Ford Ranger). 3.0 V6, 2wd, manual trans. 206K on the clock. Got it for $1800 because it was "totalled" by a hail storm. Just a couple dings on the hood really. Problem is, the title needed to be changed to a salvaged title as a result, and we bought it from SC...so we're dealing with a state we don't even live in.

Fast forward two months to Monday of this week. At this point, the truck is in my possession (pic above at my house), the money in the PO's, with everything in writing stating that we are just waiting on the title to come back from SCDMV (TWO MONTHS!!!) so we can meet once more and make completely official. PO e-mails me on Monday that his insurance guy (located in Indiana for some reason) received the title from SCDMV finally, and will be 2nd Airing it via UPS to the PO. Fantastic! Or so I thought... E-mailed the PO yesterday morning to make sure the title arrived, as we were planning to meet on Sunday afternoon. The key word in that last sentence is "were." Turns out, UPS lost the freakin envelope! So now, they've "opened an investigation" to see if they can find it. $20 says we'll never see that title. At this point i'm about to tell my dad to file for a lost title on it so we can get the damn thing legally in our possession and move on. Could have probably done that from the start and been done over a month ago.

Murphy's Law strikes again!

Does NC not do a BOS title?

I went to the JY and got the right rear seat belts out of a 98 XJ and picked up some damn near new radiator hoses and serpentine belt. Then I fixed my rear tow point by rewelding it. Then got rid of my steering clunk by simply using my impact to tighten the track bar. Feels so much better now.

Getting ready for Hale Mtn Night ride next weekend. Any takers? Its really fun!

Baby jeep is loud now because of ocd. Muffler shop mounted it backwards when andy had it. Turndown because im lazy and like loud things still....

I ordered some JCR quarter panel guards with the integrated tail lights to cover up the damage I inflicted on my sheet metal last weekend at Wooly's. Got the truck cleaned up and started stripping it down today so that I can install as soon as possible. I just need to decide it I go with black paint or match the Silverstone that the Jeep came in.

Also, Teraflex is replacing the destroyed spacer at no cost, so that install is looming also.

I vote black. KP's two tone effect looks good.

I finished my first week at my new job, got the head back on and torqued down, valve train back together and the valve cover on. New manifold should be here tomorrow, just a few smaller things holding me up now. I really should wheel it outside and clean the block, but that takes a lot of energy and motivation... I already need to clean the engine bay as well.

Got the head back and it looked all pretty. Had a valve job done on it and they said it was warped so they had to machine that as well. I didn't expect that as I haven't had any overheating issues and the head gasket was in good shape when removed. The only time it ran hot hot was in like '10 when I lost an upper radiator hose and had to get off the road to work on it, but even then it wasn't above 240 and I figured if it cooled down all together it shouldn't have been an issue. Ah, who knows. Transmission should be ready to pick up this week as well. I need more days off with pay.

Mines like that too. Minus the turn down.

Need to find somebody to make me all new exhaust from the header back before January...

Put the transmission back in Wendy's red ZJ yesterday. All seems ok so far, with the exception of the torque converter just randomly unlocked while driving it around last night and it wouldn't lock again. We shut it off when we got home, then when we left out again it was locking normally. I'm hoping that it's just a simple bad connection at the OD/TCLU plug. So far there's no slipping out of gear any more, so it's an encouraging start!

I also sold off all of my remaining VW parts for a nice fat profit, so I believe I'm finally going to order my D&C cage kit!

It's been a real struggle for us over the last 3 months physically, emotionally, and especially monetarily. I don't have any more to spend and I'm afraid that if I wait, things will go as they have over the last few months and something will come along to suck up they money I have now from selling off my parts. I'll just have to make what I have work for me the best I can.

Left for Troy, Ohio at 12 am Saturday morning to go to the Scout & IH Light Truck Nationals. Only had 2 hours of sleep before I left after working all day Friday.

Awesome show with lots of IH trucks and ideas for my pickup. Picked up a few things to save shipping and a new old stock brake line to make plumbing mine easier. Looked over a lot of TBI conversions. Sat in on Hamilton Fuel Injections seminars on Saturday and Sunday. Had a Scout running like a champ in a weekend.

Measured Nick Rayer's 1973 1110 4x4 shortbed with a fleetside box (exactly like my truck will look) to see how much we need to cut down the 8' bed to make a 6.5'.

Had a great time and was back on the road Sunday at 11 am.
