Had my first shift at work last night at Flowers Baking. Pretty massive place with 2 bread lines and a bun line. Fixed some conveyors, print head, and some other little stuff. It's pretty intimidating, but I think I am really going to like it. Other than carrying around 35 lbs of tools on a tool belt for 8 hours.

You need to have them do like they do here at Fuji Film. The maintenance guys drive golf carts around in the plant.

That would only work driving on the outside 3/4 of the plant. Shipping has chains in the floor for moving bread stacks around that probably shouldn't be driven over. It'd get you around quicker, but you would still have to monkey in between conveyors and machines to work on stuff.

I miss that kind of work. I did my internship with Gunk and spent a lot of time working with maintenance to improve on their machines.
I'd much rather be on the floor tinkering with machines than stuck behind a computer...

I feel like I am paid well for what I do. Hopefully something interesting happens again tonight. Conveyor systems are so all intertwined with photo eyes and limit switches it's insane on this level.

Yup. The problem at Gunk was old machines and old sensing equipment. The eyes wouldn't always detect when an empty bottle fell over, so if you weren't paying attention you'd have a 25 bottle pile up in no time.
Perhaps the most cool was the slime line. An entire line dedicated to bottling Tire Slime (nasty, nasty stuff). It wasn't uncommon for 5 or 6 bottles to launch across the plant like rouge fireworks if the R134 filling stage didn't go as planned.

I just make bread. I was working on a bagger last night and it ruined 10-15 loafs (?) real quick. Not that it is that much, it's only a bagger. If the mixer, proofer, or oven go down, there is a big problem.

lol! I figured out why my grille kept catching on fire! The grease trap was full from the last trip and I forgot to empty it. For some reason, grease likes to burn. Fixed it!
Also, the ebola burger tasted just fine. Worcestershire sauce just does strange things when you freeze it.

I had a 72 and 76. The 345 was a good motor. That one He has there is in great shape! Love some IH scout. SOA gets 4-5" and makes these things look mean
