Weekend is over...what did you get done?

My weekend started out pretty good. Travis (a new XJ owner I work with and have known for a while) met me at 5 am Saturday morning and we left out for Stumps place in Atlanta. I picked up my "James Clegg Original" signature series rear bumper w/swingout tire carrier. Stopped at Waffle House for lunch and made it home by 2pm. I went to my daughters ballgame (which they lost) and then went home.

My wife said to sit down, that she had something to tell me. It didn't sound like the news would be good and it wasn't. My Grandma passed away at 7:47 that morning and rather than ruin the trip to Atlanta, they told me after the ballgame. It was a sad day after that. She was suffering with dementia and it was getting worse over the last two months. She passed away in her sleep. I was thankful for that.

Then I got a stomach bug and didn't feel like doing anything Saturday night or all day Sunday. I am feeling pretty good now.

Sorry for your loss, Ed. I'm sure she's happy as can be now. Mind clear as ever.

Thinking about you, Sunshine, and the kiddos, Ed!

Sorry to hear about your grandma, Ed. I'm sure she was involved in turning you into the awesome dude that you are. That rear bumper is gonna look good on your rig!

We didn't hit that road, but yeah same area.

Took a ride in a Toyota Celica All-Trac rally machine today. Probably the only car that I've heard worse suspension noises than the Jeep! It was a blast though and fast, though the boost was turned down and we couldn't open it up too much. I think I might have to come crew at the Sandblast Rally this year.

Yup. NAXJA recovery team?

Ed, prayers to your and your family.

LOL! Works for me. I have actually never been to one but have seen the cars on the road. When is it?

March 1st. I'm send if an email right now to see if this is something we could do officially and what it would entail.

Let me know. You are welcome to stay at the house.

In the last week or so I finished a differential service on front and back. Nothing to terribly exciting!

Threw the geared 8.25 in and got it running. Need to do a yoke swap with the old one, but all is well!

I have never seen anyone put the leaf spring center pin through the tie plate like that? I always just put it through the leafs then cut off the extra. The center hole in the tie plate sits over the nut. I have had to cuth the holes bigger a time or two for larger center pins.

I had a large fender washer and flat one on there, don't know why I took them off...

It'll have to get cut down for my shock tabs.

I think he means that the washer shouldn't be there at all and the nut should be tightened down on the leaf spring and stick through the U-bolt plate, actually... and he's right.

I'm not sure that it will matter, but that's not the right way to put it together.

I'm back from my Grandma's funeral. I miss her so much already. She was such a beautiful person.

I'm thinking that the pin will shear like that and the axle will slide from center and take a fender out or worse.
