Weekend is over...what did you get done?

My jeep got the old Hobag special!

Replaced the valve cover and exhaust manifold.

No more leaks, no more growl! Feels like I have more low end torque off the line and it runs mo better. Tomorrow will be 500 miles of gear break in so I'll change the fluid up front. Hopefully finish my rear this weekend or so... Need to ASAP.

Hopefully I'll sell my sliders on Tuesday.

Fixed all the lights that were inop on my car hauler, went to a local swap meet and scored a late style 4.0 intake w/complete throttle body & injectors for $25, and found what appear to be a nearly new set of Rancho 3.5" coils for my buddy. Paid $40 for those and they still have great powdercoat and the factory labels on them.

After thinking about Glen's trailer getting stolen I stamped my trailer's VIN # on it in a few places, both easily visible and not so easily visible. Gonna call my insurance company this afternoon and see about getting some type of theft coverage on it, too. That's a LOT of money sitting around all day for thieves to be eyeballing.

Yes sir. I'd put a chain through two tires if you could. Or chain it to a tree or something. Mine have two tongue locks and it apparently did not discourage them enough.

Mine has a locking safety pin on the latch and also a lock that goes inside the coupler. After hearing of your unfortunate luck I've had second thoughts of how secure it is (or isn't). The 8274 mounted to the front has a cable wrapped around it and a lock, but even that doesn't sit so well with me.

That's a good idea about chaining the wheels though. I'd thought about chaining to something but since I have no trees in my yard my only other option would be to put a mobile home anchor in the ground, park over it and fasten a chain to that.

Sounds like you have the same two locks I had. I would look into that chain thing. Reason being it might mess up some wheels or an axle but at least it will make a hell of a racket when they thing its free and try to take off. My current trailer is in the back yard behind a fence with two dogs roaming around it. :scottm:

For trailer security... booby trap the trailer so a 12ga blank shell goes off when it's moved without disabling first. If that doesn't wake you up to get pictures of their license plates (or deal with them in other ways) I don't know what will.

I'm thinking a tripwire type setup but hooked to the tongue of the trailer so it goes off when the tongue is lifted or moved.

No actual projectile/ammunition, that's illegal in most states I believe. Just a loud bang.

I thought about rigging a car bomb when I lived in the ghetto in Nashville, something like a grenade pin wired to my radio so it gets pulled out when the radio does... I'd probably forget about it when I went to change the radio myself, though.
I had three radios stolen in a month, though, so I stopped replacing them, and stopped locking my doors. My new philosophy on theft is that I'd rather lose my stuff than my windows AND my stuff.

I like my Duratracs so far. I had to order wheel spacers also, mainly to clear the IRO steering, but the sidewall lugs are just barely touching the leafs in back.

I swapped tranny's in the trail rig. Easy 5 hour job. Now i can wheel it againparty1:

I got the new engine ready for my son's MJ as well.

Getting all kinds of stuff done now that I am single man LOL!

Went wheeling at a semi-local small forest service road. There wasn't much there except a lot of deeply rutted out water-washed trails and one 3 to 4-ish rated rocky section about 40-50 yards long (that's just a guesstimate since there's no ratings out there lol) We had a blast and it allowed my buddy to get some experience in his new-to-him '98 XJ. He was hesitant to do a lot of the stuff but after some encouragement he did the whole trail (except the rocky section) and seeing what the XJ could do without lockers impressed him. He has a winch and a lunchbox locker for the rear but we haven't installed them yet. I'm sure after we put that stuff on he'll be quite a bit more brave. :D

As for my XJ it was the first time I'd taken it out. Other than a few issues that need to be addressed soon, it did very well.
