In that case replace everything except the carrier. Don't forget the axle shaft bearings at that high of mileage too. I was just going to suggest buttoning it back up, refilling it with oil and bolting it in to see what you have before dumping a load of $$ into it if no other mods were gonna be made.
 
Very cool! I remember reading about that place on Pirate a few years ago but I don't think the deal those people were trying to land ever went through. Seems like I remember something about a small group getting together for a land lease and the price to get in on that deal was pretty stout. Maybe with some deeper pockets it'll become a reality for the masses to enjoy.

Speaking of Durhamtown, I need to go check it out. It's not that far from me, but I've never been. I've heard it's ok, just small. That's ok with me. A camping spot with an on-site wheeling park sounds like a good family outing to me!

I heard the same thing. Seems like I remember a $1,000 per person lease payment. I still don't know any of the exact details. They say they'll release more details shortly. We shall see.

I've been to Durhamtown. It was OK. It's expensive. If you go, I suggest primitive tent camping and bring your own food.

We got a power site for two nights, meal tickets for breakfast and lunch for 2 days and wheeling fees cost something like $175.00.

Then I was rather disappointed with the trails. Very small amount of variety in the trails. There's hills, one cool obstacle and some pipes to play on. That's about it. The map had to have been drawn by a 4 year old.

I'd go back but it'd be in a much smaller Jeep to at least make some of the trails interesting. If you have a dirtbike or SxS... Durhamtown is THE place to be.

This was the only cool 'trail', IMO.

From what I was told by a friend that has a sxs its got miles of trails. Jeep part is not as many trails and not that difficult.

You sure its the same? The Snowbird thing is an actual lease of hunting and fishing and some wheeling on 4 different properties. It's $1K for access to them all. From what I remember they were opening it up to 50 more people when I looked at it and it was already set up. I might be mistaken. They also limit you to have 3 guest.

Yea well if he does something on the property we saw them posting pictures of it could be nice. Just depends on their rules and what their plan is.
 
Ordered shackles and bolts for the trailer. $30 shipped..... Maybe I'll have a ride for the jeep by the URE Jamboree. http://www.redneck-trailer.com/ We shall see how they do. Never used them but they came highly recommended.

I'm sure of any of it. The only thing I saw was the post that I tagged you in on Facebook. The picture album was labeled "Snowbird Durhamtown". The D-town FB page admin says that the park would be located in Murphy, NC. That's where Snowbird is, correct?

I heard the same thing about the 'not very difficult' trail system and the past lease history.

I have absolutely 0 information other than that but I'll keep my ears on.
 
Finally got around to installing the new driveshaft in the Wrangler. Then I changed the oil, and also changed the oil in Wendy's ZJ.



Other than that, I helped my dad work on his '70 F100. We've been tinkering with it off and on for the last few years. Had the body off the frame, painted the frame and replaced all of the front end wear items and converted to later style disc brakes. Also swapping in a crate 460/C6 combo. It should be a lively little truck when it's back on the street.

That is how I have mine at work. Since I'm right handed and use the smaller wrenches more, its easier to reach them that way.

lol, I just noticed most of the stickers are gone. Did ya have fun scrapping all of those off? lol Ya gotta replace the NAXJA sticker though! (It was a little rough.)

Sure wish you and others were closer. I have a '51 F1 that will get some love someday.....
