Weekend is over...what did you get done?

The one in Charlotte or the one in Columbia? I was in Columbia.

Ooops, neither actually. I was in Raleigh. Didn't read your original post. Don't blame me, I was distracted by visions of "Beer Goddess" skirts...

:D

For those who haven't seen my new toy!

I've been wondering why the new Jeep had been running around 150*.
Pulled the T-stat housing off to make sure the thermostat wasn't stuck open and there wasn't one...

Put a thermostat in it and now it gets up to 210 within a few miles and stays there. I have no clue why it didn't have one.

Swapped the valve cover gasket too. No more leaky oil.

It was WAY cleaner than the underside of my valve cover on the 93.

New Jeeps first drawn blood: (It's officially mine)

Now, I have to figure out why I got 13 mpg from the first full tank of gas I ran through it. I'm hoping the low running temp was the culprit.

That was definitely the culprit, my MJ got 9-12mpg for the previous owner till we threw a new tstat in it. Instantly jumped to 17-19 after that.

I got it as high as 23mpg with a new o2 sensor, a light foot, and a lot of summer highway driving. With an automatic no less.

That's good to hear.

I topped it back off the morning after I swapped the thermostat.

I'm up to 130 miles and I'm at the tick above half tank. I know that really means nothing since gauges read differently but the first tank only went 75 miles before it was at that same point. That's an improvement, right? :)

Got a little more done on the 9". Shaved the bottom as much as I could, gained about 1.5-2". Welded some 3/8 plate on, and ground it smooth.

Then I spent some time on the lathe a made a Fill plug and weld on bung for the top side of the housing. (it was on the bottom, and hung down over an inch...)

Sexy turd.... ;)

Yep. I bought two of them, one for a spare.

You should not have the problems Bigwoody had but her dumped the Tru Hi 9.
