Weekend is over...what did you get done?

I had my first Remicade infusion Friday. I've never had an infusion before but it is a fancy word for having medicine pumped into you through an I V. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes.

As of right now, I'm feeling pretty good. Knees seem better. Overall joint pain is better and I slept better last night. I don't know if it is the warmer weather or the medicine. They said it could take 3 doses before I felt it but it sure seems to be helping now.

On another note, I will need some knee surgery to fix a torn miniscus (sp?). Maybe that will help things too.

Sucks to be 41 and falling apart. You young guys take care of yourselves.....please?

Ed, i'm 29 and falling apart. I feel your pain buddy! Glad to hear the medicine is helping out.

Held together with zipties and superglue.......were all falling apart just different parts and speeds

Ed I'm glad you're already feeling effects.....modern science has given us some good stuff

44 here, and mending! 4 screws in the back a year ago August, followed by R medial meniscectomy 6 months later (March '12). The meniscus was outpatient, not much to report in the way of grief. It's been much better since about 4 weeks after surgery. NOW, the LEFT knee is talking to me way too frequently... Don't sweat the meniscus. Find a good Physical Therapist for guidance, then be consistent with your therapy. Consistency is the key, not the intensity! Glad you are feeling better.
ps. the back is doing very well too.

26 and my joints are already not that great... most of em will pop out of joint if I am not careful, hips will randomly decide they're not gonna work right, knees make crunchy noises at certain angles, and I have to crack almost every joint every few hours or they get painful.

Yep, I'm gonna be a cranky old man alright. I'm hoping medical knowledge advances and I can get a full titanium and teflon skeleton soon, as long as the balljoints aren't crappy brand I figure that should last a while :laugh2:

My wife just finished her 2nd infusion last week. She was told that there would likely be at least 3 infusions before she started to feel the true affects. Apparently the first 2 are "pre-loads" into the blood/body. She's actually feeling a little worse since the old meds are out of the body and the new one isn't fully in yet.

Hope this one works for you Ed. Living with someone with RA, I have seen how it affects day to day life and don't wish that on anyone.

And since we are on the topic....39 and beat all to hell myself. Bad knees (Osgood-Schlauter disease), surgery for a torn labrum and bone spurs in my right shoulder, and stretched tendons in my right foot.

Getting old does suck....but it is better than the alternative.

My son and I made a trip to Mt Airy NC(3 hrs round trip) today to pick up some fenders/doors and a hood from a member of ComancheClub, simmonsm. I want to thank Mark for the great deal on some straight sheet metal! He has a badass "99" MJ as well that he is almost done with. Its a 87 MJ with 99 XJ interior/exterior and drivetrain, including the OBD2!

Here is our new to us sheet metal

This door will need 4 holes welded up from a aftermarket mirror but other than that, all of the sheet metal is straight and rust free!

Were with the other club/obsession this weekend.....flyball tourney in chatt, ill post vids tonight maybe. There are a lot of fast dogs here, its roo's (our chi/minpin mix) first tourney, so she may not even run, but its mostly to get her acclimated to the environment. Hundreds of barking dogs and races going constantly make for a crazy atmosphere.

Wow all those barking dogs would give me a headache! My parents bred "pure bred, AKC reg." Norwegian Elkhounds and Beagles. At any given time we had at least 30 dogs and I had to take care of them all. It was my chore on the farm. I've scooped mountains of dog crap and laid awake at night just wishing those dang dogs would shut up LOL!

Its why I do not own dogs now. We took good care of all of them and made sure they were placed in good homes but making a business out of "dogs" sucked for me as a kid. I do remember getting $1000 plus per puppy even in the 70's. It kept food on the table. Thankful for that i guess

I honestly can't imagine life without a couple dogs, I could see where making them a business would ruin it though. Speaking of that, Doug you guys bringing Roo and Bolt when you come up?

Fun day today. We get to church and my mother in law says her XJ is slipping and not shifting right. I come out to a pool of ATF under the front end. A quick look finds the lower trans hose has slid off the fitting on the radiator pumping a bunch of fluid out. And I mean a BUNCH!

We go home and get some tools and stop at AutoZone and get a quart of Lucas trans fix and 6 quarts of ATF.

After farting around with those new fangeled plugs that the late model XJ's come with, I got the e-fan out. I removed the airbox and got the hose back on and double clamped it. Reinstalled everything and started adding fluids.

Added tghe Lucas first and 3 quarts of ATF and it showed good on the dipstick so we headed home. One there, checked it again and added another quart. Looks good now. Maybe the trans isn't toast. It seems to shift fine. An AW4 holds 8.2 quarts and we added 5. You do have to wonder.

Good news is I had the strength to do the job but all that standing has got my knee throbbing. I hope the surgery fixes it. At least I got the chance and felt like wrenching. That has to be a sign of improvement, right?

yup bringing pups....theyre like kids they go everywhere with ya ;)
Sweet, hope my dogs don't teach them any bad habits! :D

Flexd'Holy dogs, batman'XJ

when i got the wagoneer from mark i never changed the tranny fluid for the first year i owned it, just checked it, drove it around the block and called it good. when i finally changed it when the stroker went in it came out blacker than old motor oil. didnt even change the filter, just filled it up.

...they will hold up to a surprising amount of abuse, even being run dry for a bit.

I've nuked 2 AW4s and working on my third (two in the old XJ, one in the 98) but they have all been my fault or the previous owners fault, it's a good box for an automatic.

Absolutely! It's a definite sign of improvement! I'm sure the trans is fine too, AW4's are crazy tough!

Did some work on the vehicles today. Oil change in the DD and replaced the oil pressure sending unit in the XJ after it started reading 80psi on Thursday. Still can't get the Jeep running good on cold starts...may have to borrow the old mans computers and see what my readings are. The basic replacements (plugs, wires, cap, rotor..etc) haven't helped. Coolant temp sensor helped for about a week.

Went to a couple of local car shows with some friends yesterday and watched one buddy of mine put his Mustang into the guard rail on the highway while going from one show to another. Luckily he's still here with us and came out unscratched...could have been a completely different story.
