Weekend is over...what did you get done?

The July trip is definitely a good time. You could follow Glenn and watch him crash his Jeep into literally everything in sight! :roflmao:

I have a 2012 Wrangler 2 door 4x4 Sport as a rental car this weekend. I've really enjoyed running around with the top and doors off. Kinda hate to give it back tonight.

In other news, my control arm drop brackets showed up on Friday.

I went to URE and managed to bust out my radiator in the mud pit my last day there. Crap thing is that I went on EVERY trail and didnt break one thing. I just wanted to get it a bit muddy for the drive home and ended up busting the header panel and radiator. Which resulted in frantic panicking and a drive to advance auto in Troy, NC. $130 bucks later and shes back at home waiting for a new header panel.

I swear, I really should open up an auto parts store by the outpost. I'd make a killing!

Got a couple of tickets to the truck race in Rockingham today, so spent the day out at the track. First Nascar race that's been at this track in 8 years, plus this was the first Nascar track I ever went to when I was a kid so it brought back some old memories.

he's running a swapped v8 and IIRC cut up the stock pump unit to run an external then pulled the old junk out of the tank

Having a carb sometimes means ya gotta get creative. The electric pump died and the mechanical pump still works. So instead of shelling out $180 for a new electric unit, I just did away with all of it except what I needed to make the mechanical pump work. Got a universal sender from Summit, bulkhead fitting and a couple -6 adapters. Total coast: about $40. Just have to get it all wired. Also gonna get a digi speedometer with a GPS sender.

Funny thing, my friend and I were just talking about that. Still not sure why no one has opened one up by the outpost that sell common parts for jeeps, landcruisers, xterras, etc. I think they would make a killing on it.

Yup. You'd have to bring u-joints by the pallet! lol.

I know there's a welder at the stables across the street, can't remember what they charge to use/get something welded. It was a very reasonable price from what I remember.

I bet you could make decent money just buying all the d35 and d30 shafts at the junkyard, 30 shafts including unit bearing, then reselling the decent ones as-is for a small markup and installing new ujoints in the others for more markup.

That, driveshafts, tires, and maybe a few junk jeeps worth of sheetmetal and lights would make some good cash near any offroad park.

I went wheeling today and broke an axleshaft, went home, got my spares, put one in, and kept wheeling, then towed the turd home. There is something to be said for having a tow rig, even one as unreliable as mine, at least I can hope one of them will make it home.

Chrysler automatics :passgas:

Well got my Durango box back together finally....
Got some money for the keyless for my truck ... went wheeling at a guys house 25 miles away 100 acres but still fun

I used to carry D35 shafts with me after I swapped mine out. I sold a bunch on the trails at Tellico and Uwharrie. For $100. I used ot swap them out as well because many people had no clue. Now I'm a weight weeny so I don't want to carry any extra weight I don't need.

Much truth.

Really dude! Wow no love! You missed the rocks I tried to move on Kodak! Ask Jason about it next time I drag his ass up there!

that's a pretty good idea. I'd almost feel bad about charging people that much for a 35 shaft and then remember that they brought it on themselves with their own stupidity... dana 35: unsafe at any size.

Yep $100 isn't too much. I call it a stupidity tax. I was getting cranky about it as well so I stopped doing it. I had some dude being a jerk about it. I don't take crap from people so I told him to shut his yap about the guy helping him. He didn't. I left him there. I kicked my highlift out it crashed on the axle. and left the whole thing apart. Walked away. I figured my lousy attitude was not a good idea. So I stopped doing it.

Bored this week, so the DD is getting some front winch bumper love. :D

I also installed a set of KILLER LED lights from Truck lite. I am doing the Beta testing for them, and we did an OEM/LED lumen comparison test on them last night. The test data is unreal just how much better these things are, but test data aside, the actual performance is impressive. More on that in a different post.

I saw those just yesterday on their FB page! They look pretty nice. I wonder how they would compare to my HID projectors? How much are they expecting to sell them for?

Not sure how they would compare as far as light output, would just have to test yours as a comparison. I can say from personaly experience, just because lights 'look' brighter, doesnt mean they are useful in the real world with they way our eyes process light.

They arent cheap ( I think $250 each, retail), but are an impressive, NHTSA/DOT legal approved replacement lighting for our XJ's. The LUX output on these is amazing, and its all user friendly light. Many of the HID conversion I have seen use a non HID housing and the authorities are cracking down on folks... especially the 'tuner' crowd (you know, the ones who blind everyone with their blue or purple junk.) I think you used Lexus HID housings right?
