Weekend is over...what did you get done?

i got out and did some wheeling today. almost got to regret going alone, though. i tried to go around a deep hole, and ended up sliding in sideways! that sucker was up to my rearview mirrors!

I really want to go fishing now! I havent been in sooo long!

Ah yes Aiken is calling my name this spring/summer!

Not smart. Please don't wheel alone.

yeah... wheeling alone is for stupid people (like me I guess :dunce:)

Seriously though, I only go alone when I'm ~7 miles from home (i.e. I can walk home if I have to), everyone knows where I am, I have good cell reception, I know the trail like the back of my hand and there is zero chance of a rollover. Oh... and full recovery gear.

I hope you mean side view mirrors?

I have been in water up to the rear view mirror once in my old Toyota, that was quite the experience.

yeah sideview... as for the alone part, i was within 5 miles of my house, and had good cell service, a shovel, a strap, and a highlift(and plenty of experience both wheeling and getting out on my own). nothing bad happened, but i did indeed come close to getting stuck. without lockers and mud tires, or even smaller mud tires, i would probably still be working to get it out. oh well, i had fun, and it has been several weeks since the last time i got the jeep out for some of that action...

Just finished my cage and took a quick trip to the Quick Trip for a soda. Felt like everybody and their grandma was staring at me....

Yep! Been there done that!

Sweet! We should hit a trail or two. You know, to make sure those welds are going to hold. :spin1:

I would, if the damn thing would start...lol. Its dead in the driveway, I suspect another coil. This will be the 4th one. But it looks cool!

funny, I just got back from doing that. Decided I should make sure the shock mount I rewelded and the exhaust I put on would stay put.

Son of a...! I'm down at my dad's place in Columbus until next week, but if it's still dead in the driveway (which I kinda doubt) I'll be there to lend a hand. :repair:

It does look pretty cool though.

I've welded all over my rig with all the wiring connected and never killed anything people say you will kill by welding. The important thing to remember is to keep your ground clamp as close as possible to the area you are welding on, with no wiring harnesses going between the two. Your luck may be worse than mine especially if using an HF start TIG welder.

Where are you getting them from? If it can wait a couple of days, try Rock Auto. I ordered a spare coil from them before the Crawl last year, and was very surprised at the quality of it. Haven't had need to install it (yet), but it feels like it's better than the BWD stuff off the shelf locally.

If i'm not mistaken the brand was Original Engine Management and cost around $25 + shipping.

Yeah, Ive been through two BWD's. I will look into Rock Auto, in the mean time I have a new coil in my spares bag (it left me on the side of the interstate the first time, now I dont leave home without one). I have been meaning to find a new OEM coil, since the first one lasted 15 years...
