if you have 1 jeep, its a guarantee you'll need a backup at some point.
From personal experience, "owning" an XJ/MJ, or two, or four, is no guarantee of "having regular use of..." anymore than a non-owner gets. I've offered "regular use of" one of my spares to any member who needed it... just shoo the wasps off, or share the airspace & call it yours too. :sure:
All this talk of "spare" jeeps is true. My DD MJ is down. So I have been driving my trail rig. Go figure.
I took the fuel rail off and cleaned it up. Getting ready to put some different injectors in it. I apparently have 1, 2 or 6 that leak down into the cylinders......but.....while I'm waiting on them, I decided to swap out the booster/MC with a '99 booster/MC. I went to the PAP and picked one up, along with the prop valve. I got it home and compared it beside the old MJ one and I came to realize it wouldn't fit. The booster on it is too deep. It hit the sheet metal where the shock comes through. Luckily I had a booster/MC off an '02 WJ. It fit. I took the prop valve off the '99 and put it on the '02. Finally got it all mounted up in the MJ. I still have to make a brake line or two but I'm happy with the finish. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow. It's dark and I'm tired right now.
Not true. I had a 1999 booster in my MJ for the longest time before I swapped it out for a 1996 (easier to mod the booster rod). The 99 fits, it's just hard to finagle it into place.
I found the washer fluid tank on my 91 interfered with the WJ booster I installed.
Fortunately, some time with a heat gun and a metal spoon reshaped the tank to fit perfectly next to it.
