Got the front of the "frame", where the old lower control arm mount was, reinforced with the extra frame stiffener.
Also got the back done behind the rear crossmember
When I looked at my front crossmember, it was bad. It was 11 gage 2x6 tubing and had seen a lot of stress and was deformed a little
So I went to the local metal yard and got some beefy .25 wall to make a new crossmember.
I wanted to make a new one anyhow since I was not happy with the radius arms and trans all supported by the four factory crossmember bolts. Also, one of the four was stripped. I wanted to make a stronger, yet removable crossmember.
So I made the new crossmember wide enough to reach to the outside of the frame rails and drilled all the holes
then I made some end caps for the crossmember out of .25 plate
Fit them and the crossmember up to the frame, and drilled some holes horizontally thru the frame
Then I cut some heavy wall tubing for frame sleeves and test fit them in the frame
Of course now I have more weld prep to do to weld the sleeves on the inside of the frame rails;
Hopefully I can get some time to work on it tomorrow or the Thursday. I need to weld in the frame sleeves, then tack the end caps to the crossmember and remove it for final welding. While it is out, I have got to drill and tap the factory frame rail nuts to 7/16 since one is stripped out. Still have to fit and weld the radius arm brackets I got from Ruffstuff to the crossmember.
Lot of work still to do. Want to get it done before the meet and greet in Murfreesboro.
