Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Got the drum brake hardware kit in from oreilly's today and got the passenger side rear brakes done. Then I took off the drivers side drum and found an absolute horror for brakes.

In all the rear drum brakes I've done I've never seen a cross bar like this, it was laying in the bottom of the drum by the adjuster.

And this is what the internals looked like after smacking them with a claw hammer knocking off the mounds of rust.

Well I've run into a problem to my surprise. Was looking on local auto parts stores websites, and low and behold the cross bar doesn't look like something that can be bought. I've found springs for the cross bar and every other piece in the rear brakes except that. I guess manufacturers never figured it'd get destroyed like that.

finally started tackling the dreaded frame stiffener installation; dropped the front end, removed the radius arms and cross member,

ground all the junk on the "frame rails" down to shiny metal

, and then started welding up all those holes!

Got both sides welded up

tomorrow got to grind welds and paint and fab up a new trans cross member; I dont like the way this one mounts and going to beef it up since it is also the mount for the radius arms.

That's a nice shop. There is nothing like having a lift.

Thanks. It is 40 x 50 and full. The lift was my retirement gift from my wonderful wife. It make a great work bench and fab table also I have found. Glad I got the 4 post.

Had the rear stock XJ seat recovered with Corbeau Matching Material.

Ordered matching front and rear Trail Ready bumpers:

I ordered the rear without the light guards:

Will be putting AtoZ Fabrication's tire carrier kit the rear bumper:

I'm interested to see how the rear comes out with that add on tire carrier...

I really have no clue... I was going down the road behind somebody going really slow. They slammed on brakes in. The middle of tthe road. So stomped the gas and went around the, somehow between stop and wide up it started running horrible... never in a million years did I think I could break a rotor button. I bet YOU can't break a rotor button! :-P
