Weekend is over...what did you get done?

I replaced my battery, got a new idle pulley since my was squeeling like a pig. I also cleaned out the garage so I can finally fit my car in it to work on.

But then I would lose the ability to borrow garage space and help that is conveniently 5 minutes down the road from me!
 
What makes you think he'll have a problem with it.


It sure is nice outside today. I'm sitting on the couch with the motivation of a wet sock. Ugh. There's so much I could be doing.
 
I found a vacuum leak on the truck. I thought I was able to hear it before, but since the engine idled at about 2000k RPM, i couldn't really tell.

Today, the engine was barely idling, so I shot some carb cleaner everywhere. Found my IACV is missing the rubber o-ring that seals it to the TB.

I'm gonna go tonight and try to find one to replace it. Any tips or pointers?

Thanks - I ended up just going to Advance since it was closer and picking up one that fit. Not sure why I thought it was going to be harder than that.

The idle on the truck is already a zillion times better. Still idles slightly high, but now it's not racing. I'm going to put a new TPS on it and see what that accomplishes.

Glad you got it fixed. I figured it would have been harder than that too, which is why I suggested an o-ring kit. Guess you have better luck than me!
 
Yeah, Advance has a ton of little o-rings in baggies to choose from. Gonna have to track down some of the other gremlins causing the high idle.
 
I'm glad your Advance is better than the ones we have around here... Our O'Reilly's has anything I need.

I went into Advance 2 weeks ago to get some wheel studs for the Jeep. It took almost 30 minutes for someone to wait on me and when they did the guy didn't know what a wheel stud was.

It drives me crazy! They'll let anyone work in a parts store! It doesn't matter if they don't know how to change a tire or not!!! AHHHHH!
 
Yeah, my local Advance is pretty good and the workers are very knowledgeable. A few of the guys know me because I am in there too often :S

The Advance I first worked at was a real good one...we all knew our stuff and got crap done. The second one, was alright..handful of us who knew what we were doing, with a handful that didn't have a clue. In general Advance is hit and miss. But they're getting better, in part because anybody who applies now actually has to take a test about how much you know about cars.
 
Installed JKS quicker discos, remounted the now straightend brake lines. Holy hell was that pressed in stud a S.O.B, Borrowed a puller from advance auto. wouldn't open enough, so I cut the bolt down enough for the puller to fit then viola.
Now I need to get some wheelspacers or new wheels, cuz unfortunetly the mounts for when they are disco'd rub on the tires
 
big white Jeep got some much-needed attention yesterday--

-- new (to me) steering column (without the optional disco wobble in the middle)
-- rebuilt steering shaft from almost a year ago (been waiting to do 'em all at once)
-- cleaned and Oxguard/dielectric greased connections under the dash and kick panels (too many doorless rain showers w/out a cover handy)
-- vacuumed out a shop-vac full of leaves and twigs (used her to haul out a fallen tree about 5 months ago and I got BUSY/lazy since then)
-- replaced instrument cluster trim that's been cracked since 2009 when some crackhead decided he needed my radio more than I needed it-- still no radio (fool me once.....)
-- re-installed my Happy Bunny floor mats
-- oiled/conditioned the leather for another summer w/out doors

now I'm off to see if it runs any worse-- usually if I take the time to clean her up, she returns the favor with mechanical problems:nosmile:
 
More fun today, trying to reset the toe and center the steering wheel today. Could not for the life of me get the tie rod bar to turn. So I figured it was a good time to put on the V8 ZJ bar that has been stading up next to the tool box for the past year :) me likey.
