Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Yup, mom's got a 3.7 KJ. I don't mind the oil filter placement (better than a Chevy 5.3L). Seeing the thermostat on the bottom of the motor threw me for a loop yesterday.

Knock on wood the head is still good. Oil was a quart low (from the leak), and 2K overdue for a change, but still oil and not a milkshake. Tranny fluid looks good too. I can see on the bottom of the tstat housing where it's crusty like it's leaking and drying. They are known for having some valve train issues though, so i've got my eye on that.

I had planned to drain and refill the coolant this weekend until I saw the VC gasket leaking, which requires removal of the heater hoses running to the core in order to get the VC off. So i'll just knock both out at the same time.

He (Dad) had a problem with a CEL for misfire on some cylinders and they kept clearing the code. Went in last week and it was a cracked head. Scary. At least he's got the full warranty

I bought the Jeep with a broken timing chain. Replaced the engine with an $1800 JY motor w/ 40k on it. We installed it and drove it for 93 days. Then it spun a rod bearing (Or something similar) It's knocking like HELL!

finally got a tow pig this weekend. just got to find a trailer now. to bad my pocket has a HUGE hole in it now. hahahah

Went to the JY to find pieces to complete my overhead console. Got the BCM at the first one but all the harnesses had been taken or cut. Went over to another and found a complete virgin console still in a 99 Limited. Pulled the factory computer and harness. Anyone need a 97 WJ BCM?

That's weird. The only misfire I was getting on mom's was just a slight one (not even enough to trip the CEL). The plugs I pulled out explained why it was doing that haha.

The same Liberty you drove to the beach last summer? How the heck did that thing break a timing chain to begin with????

Old friend of mine's dad has a 03 Ram with 3.7 #3 in it. He's not one for maintaining a vehicle...at all....so he drove it with little to no oil in it for a solid year (not to mention all the stupid crap my friend and I did whenever we borrowed it from him) before it finally got mad and started making a bunch of racket. The 2nd one he put in lasted about 2 days before it spun a bearing for some reason (FYI the 3.7 from a KJ is NOT a direct bolt in to a Ram). As far as I know, 3.7 #3 is going strong as of now.

I turned the big 4-0...went to Lane Motor Museum with Sunshine. It was fun!

I wonder if I get enough of these concrete cylinders, if I can cement them together and build a shop out of them?

It'll cut a couple inches through and probably set it on fire, mostly.

Jackhammer will suck... I'd grab a spade, an axe, and a chainsaw, get most of one side freed and then tie it to the jeep and yank it out.

well shit, if I'd known we were getting the good stuff out I would have suggested a satchel charge!
