Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Definitely not a standard bolt!! Also, I don't like these. Can I swap 'em out with ones from a newer XJ?

I'll try that. They've been soaking in PB blaster for 3 days. I haven't tried in the past 2 days.

If that fails cut the section that the ball is pressed into off and put a pipe wrench on the ball. A big ass pipe wrench, and try to twist it while heating the c.

That is standard for the front D30. I would leave it be and invest in a 13mm 12pt gear wrench.

I tried using a 12pt 13mm bolt and it rounded off the head on one of them. That's why I figured a reverse torx head socket would eliminate that possibility. Also, I hate lotion.

Well it was a 'weekend' during the week this week.

About 2 weeks ago the CJ5 began puking oil out of the rear pass side axle tube.

SO not wanting to take apart a 32 year old stock AMC 20...read 2 piece shafts...I scramlbed and sold JUST enough parts to get a moser 1 piece alloy kit. NICE setup. The kit shipped came to 297.xx...I sold $300 worth of parts. So my $2.xx will go back into the jeep fund. That's probably all I'll have for a while...but it might buy air for the tires, replace the blinker fluid, or rebuild the canuter valve.

I also started to rattle can the XJ. I had some left over from cleaning up and painting my M-416 trailer (pics with the 5 are earlier in this thread) and figured I'll go for the fleet look. SO the XJ and eventually the MJ will be rattle canned Rustoleum Safety Blue. It matches almost perfectly the CJ's jeep 'Islander blue' paint job.

Why rattle when you can roll!!

I just bolted on some Spidertrax in the rear.. its driveable again! woohoo..

Installed my lebaron vents that i've had in the garage for about 6 months.... Even though the clear has been peeling on the hood it was still hard to make the first cut! lol

Got a picture of it?

I FINALLY got the Samurai off the Jack stands with new transfer case mounts, new 5.38 gears and drive shafts... and that thing is geared LOW with 5.38s in the axles and 65.1 in the t-case!

The waggy 44 goes in the Jeep next!

Hell yeah! I got all 3 ball joints out.

Ghost, I would have felt stupid if I drove all the way to your place to knock out 3 balljoints that were simple to remove. I was making one small but crucial mistake.

I had the axle on a couple jackstands sitting on the cement floor. Apparently when I was beating on the ball joints the jackstand was soaking up all the force. SOOO, I laid the axle directly on the cement floor. Popped each one about 3 times with a 3lb sledge. Came right out, no heat at all.

Death wobble.

Has new TREs, new unit bearings, steering stabilizer and new front ujoints. I cranked on the trackbar bolt and it didn't move.

Needs an alignment and probably tires balanced.

Other than the above things, what causes DW?

Control arm bushings, ball joints, track bar too short?

You've covered most of it.

track bar is one designed for my lift - I assume it was installed with the lift.

Ball joints are all right and the control arm bushings look OK too. I don't think either one is shoddy enough to warrant DW. No major breakage or obvious signs of crappyness.

I am going to get an alignment and see if that fixes it since it needs one anyways. I've seen that bad camber or loose trackbar is the cause of a vast majority of DW cases.
