Weekend is over...what did you get done?

spent Saturday P.M. rebuilding dash in the '88 after someone decided they needed my radio more than I did. It looked like rain in the afterneen, so I threw a cover on her for the last couple hours of work, and when I got ready to leave, I found the dash bezel and most of the HVAC controls sitting on the ground next to the Jeep.

Oh well, I needed to replace a bunch of dash bulbs-- this thuckin' feif just made it that much easier....

Pulled the exhaust from the header back, building a new system that won't hit my crossmember as well as incorporating a flex joint to help prevent the header from cracking. Also going to ditch the TC drop when everything goes back in.

man i hate a thief. i've beat the shiznack out of a guy i caught stealin a radio onetime, and it wasn't even my radio. given the chance i'd do it a hundred times

I had the cover on it and the thief couldn't figure out how to open the door (half doors with only the latch assby) so I could have walked right up behind him and clubbed the poop out of him-- if only I'd had seen him...:flame:

Spent yesterday with a friend having him fab up some new battery cables for my Jeep. Got all of them done except the alternator to battery and wow what a difference! I can't wait to get that last one done and see if there's a bigger change. After that we rode over to woodkrawler's house to pick up some skid plates for another friend of mine.

Put on some new calipers, rotor and pads on the wifes XJ, R&R air filter, oil and filter on both XJ's also.

The best part about the whole thing was I did it all in my new garage instead of the driveway on rocks!

Moved to new to me digs with two car garage.....
Only sad part is that the floor in it is gravel......
suggestions on what to do about that?

concrete = expensive. It's like $100/yard not including delivery.

You could get some crush and run and get an electric compactor and pack it down nice and tight.

Of course it is ... but that's about $500 in concrete, plus rebar, plus delivery fee, plus someone to do it for you if you can't.

That's a lot of fun jeep stuff.

Probably gonna do the crush and run, it is enclosed, but I am renting the place so I really don't wanna $ the concrete.

And no, Jeep is eternal!

yeah, i guess you're right. if you're renting, i'd just throw down some of that vinyl sheeting like truckstop bathroom stall. at least you can take that with you.
anyway, for my weekend, i got the parts to fix the waggy, (timing gears &chain, distributor gear set, gasket set...), fixed the winch on the xj, ordered the axle tube seal so i don't leak out all my gear oil, had the waggy towed to a reputable(i hope) shop to get the bugs worked out, got me a new 12 guage shotty.

I just got a speeding ticket. 70 in a 55. For once I was behaving more than usual in the Jeep.

Alpha, you can change the gasket with oil in it.
