Weekend is over...what did you get done?

NICE!

Got some new shoes for the XJ from brown santa and mounted, replaced front rotors and pads. Next weekend gonna get airsoft pellets put in the new shoes and all weights taken off (as 3 of the 4 needed more than 10oz. on the outside to balance), go to the JY and get brackets, calipers, hoses off a ZJ for rear disc swap, try to find MC and booster out of a WJ for that swap as well. Then the entire braking system will be completely flushed and new fluid throughout and get the gears on order.

On a side note has anyone dealt with completeoffroad.com? They've got 4.56's front and rear with both master install kits for $450 plus shipping.

Hey ghost, melkor needs at least one of those stock rear driveshafts, actually, he only needs the slip yoke off of it... we need it so that we can make a spare rear driveshaft for the Willys. It is the perfect diameter to fit inside a front Cherokee shaft, and if we cut the cardan off, tap the slip yoke into the tube, and then weld it up to make a fixed yoke, it is the perfect length.

Now, on with my weekend success... Last night I pulled the steering column out of the Ranger. The bearings were bad in it when I bought the truck and I had hoped that the upper bearing was the only bad one, so one night Melkor and I took the wheel off and the column partially apart to install the upper. It did not require the removal of the column from the truck to do so. Unfortunately, while this "repair" helped, it did not cure the problem. The lower bearing was bad as well. So after getting the column out of the truck last night, I literally took the entire column completely apart this morning and installed the lower bearing. It took a while to figure part of it out, there is a lot of moving parts there that are not visible due to the complexity of the tilt system. I finally figured it all out, and after I had it dissassembled it went very smooth. I got it put all back together in about 2 hours. I also cleared my EVAP leak code, and replaced the vent solenoid on the carbon canister to see if that is the problem. Tomorrow will consist of more steering work, I have to make a new adjuster for the drag link so that I can get it aligned, the current adjuster is too short, and I cannot get the steering wheel straight. I am also going to fix my hitch so that it has more than 3 bolts holing it on... And if all that goes well, I may pull the LCAs off of the 30 and weld on some LCA bracket stiffners/skids. It all just depends on how time goes.

Replaced the turn signal switch

Got all my parts in for cruise

But what I'm most proud about - Was able to fit six bikes six people and gear in my Jeep

got my lift installed finally...got extremely lucky as no transfer case drop or front end alignment was needed...it actually tracks straighter now than it did before the lift...only took 8 hours of blood, sweat, tears, cussing, and dealing with the rain but it was worth it

Went to see the parents this weekend. When I got up there Friday I changed the oil, greased the front end and driveshafts, and checked all other fluids (nothin like laying underneath a wet Jeep trying to change the oil). Got a new cell phone Saturday, worked on trying to get my friends WJ running Sunday morning. Got back to Charlotte right as the roads were starting to get slushy from the snow. Stayed out till around 1am playing in the snow, then got up at 6am and went back out to have some more fun.

My neighbor bribed me with a 12 pack to swap engines in his 93 YJ (his teenage son pulled a brake-drop, spit the rear driveshaft out and broke off the tailcone on the TC, then drove it 20 miles back home in 4L and blew the engine). He found a 95 XJ, wrecked but running, and we plucked the engine out of it a couple weeks ago. Finally got the time over the weekend to do the swap…..put it in the garage Saturday morning and pulled it out Sunday afternoon. Ran into a few snags, but all in all things went pretty smooth.

While we were pulling the XJ engine, he got a call that said he’d be heading back to the sandbox for his third rotation over, so he’s gonna be putting the YJ up for sale. If anyone’s interested in it, I’ll vouch for the engine work done to it (by me). It’s got a couple-inch body lift and some shackle lift (about 4” total), no sye but does have a TC drop in it. If anyone wants any more info or wants to come look at it, lemme know. He hasn’t set a price yet, but I do know his wife wants it GONE.

Couple pics of the fun:

Finally got started Saturday around 10 AM:

Went back down Sunday morning and realized the water pump had to be swapped, did that, bolted everything else up and fired it up. It ran, surprisingly….

Had a tranny cooler line leak and a fuel line leak (at the tank), fixed both, and drove it home:

Couple things I learned about the differences between a XJ/MJ and a YJ/TJ 4.0. The passenger motor mount brackets are the same but the driverside one is different (found that out the hard way), and the water pump snouts are different as well as the alternator/AC compressor brackets. As well, the flexplate differs from a 93 to a 95 so I had to swap that too.

Picked a good weekend to do the swap....it just started snowing when we pulled it out and drove it home. About a foot later, he's now taxi-ing his whole family to work and what not.

tore my 8274 apart to find out it has a gear with a missing tooth! not chipped, Missing!!!
...ordered a new one, and lower housing rebuild kit to fix it up.

I got visited by the Santa in brown (aka UPS), who delivered my RE 3.5" SuperRide, adj. trackbar, Cobra CB, and JKS discos. I'm just waiting (by the door everynight) for my OME shocks to come in, then its off the shop to get some work done. Once all of that is finished, I'll have a build report to put in this thread! (Still pumped about all the parts in my house though)

oh you didnt hear? warn used the "invisagear" drivesystem that year but discontinued production to to high manufacturing costs :D

since im in restaurants the week is my weekend... anyway
no more broken tail-lights! or angry cops pointing out broken tail-lights! It'll also act as a psuedo tailgate too, and eventually there will be a winch mounted to the backside, its the same tubing as the cage so its a stout addition.
