Weekend is over...what did you get done?

So wait... you left Charlotte at 6am, flew for 18.5 hours, and you landed in Illinois? That would be a flight plan fail. You guys have a layover in Tokyo?

Lol. Yeah, the plane broke down, so we had to walk...

Landed back in Charlotte at 12:30am....smart a**... :D

Inherited this as a DD about 3 or 4 weeks ago:

That would be a Diesel if you cannot read it.... Love it. 26 - 28 around town. IDK Highway yet. Haven't been on a real "road trip" in it yet. It is beat up and needs some cosmetic work but she runs like a top with 193K on the odo!

Nice! It would be a little better if it was a 98-99 year model with the 606 turbo motor!

That will run just fine on some home brew.

I'm a big fan of older merc diesels.

Yea my nephew got the 99 and I got the 96. LOL!

Thanks. I have been looking at Benzworld I think it is. Is that a part/repair shop that has a forum?

Peachparts owns Benz world for older cars and DIYers. They also sell parts much cheaper than retail. Prices are usually on par with rock auto, but will be better parts, oem or a German/European.

OK, Yea. After I posted I went and compared some prices on stuff I need. Not everything was there. I have been using this as my source. I replaced the hood ornament from here and it was a genuine MB part.

They are listed in Benzworld as a reputable supplier. Thanks for the info.

Found out I might be getting another jeep soon, Whether I need it or not. Wondering now if I should sell my beater and start over with a nicer jeep, or keep building the beater for trail duty and just DD the stocker. If I keep both, that means I own 2 jeeps, a Volkswagen, a Chevy truck, and a motorcycle. That doesn't include my wife's car, or the liberty that my aunt gave me with a bad motor that I haven't fixed yet... I think I'll give the pickup and the liberty back to my aunt, and DD the stock 4 banger...

Well guys I'm back after a whirlwind blew through our world. Looks like I will finally be back on the jeep this weekend and getting back into the jeep i freaking love. Then I'll probably sell off my pickup to buy the wife a van...but at least I'll have my jeep back!!!

Picked up my new DD:

Well that certainly is a bit different, I never seen one in that color before.

Lol, yeah, I don't know how Long it will stay purple, but I got it from one of my best friends' dad, who has owned it since new, and has been promising it to me since I was in middle school. He never could bring himself to let it go, and now his wife is finally so tired of it that she is MAKING him buy a new Jk. He's pissed that they don't come in purple, lol...

Lokka locker installed and crossmember painted. Made a wooden seal driver to seat the output seal in the case, no more leak I hope lol...

The locker passes the turn test but when I rotate the tire forward and then jerk it back it unlocks super easy. Can't even hear it unlock on the road. All the clearances and what not were fine once I installed it but I can't tell if its working? Feels like there is more drag in the front end and that it wants to pull straight but I don't know.

Holy crap! That's the same stripe kit that was on my '94 YJ when I first bought it. Mine is the "Navajo Turquoise Metallic" color, though. I called it the Miami Vice Jeep due to the "festive" color scheme.

I finally got tired of the "comments" from buddies so I took them off. If you look hard enough you can tell where they were from years of washing the paint surrounding the stripe kit, even after buffing it twice, but I can live with that :spin1:

^^haha! I know! i'm gonna leave them on there for now. It's kind of a weird thing, because that stripe kit was only an option on the later year yj's. When Matt's dad bought the jeep, the salesman talked him into the stripe kit, even though it was a holdover from the yj years that they still had on the shelf. I've never seen another TJ with that graphic, and very few purple ones. This jeep has 143k on the clock, 2.5, ax5, np231, dana 35 w/tracklock, and 4.10 gears, trailer hitch, and no a/c. Lets just say i'm getting it cheaper than the tires I'm putting on it....
Couldn't turn it down after all the history. I've known the jeep since David brought it home, learned to drive in it, and have driven it at least a little bit every time I've gone back to Jackson since I left for college. It has been offroad twice. Once when I was feeling froggy at 17, and again this weekend, lol. Both times it did just as well as any of the stock xj's I've owned, so I figure a small lift and some 32's, and a front locker will make it a good DD and backup wheeler.

Nice video Dirk!

Got a lot accomplished over the weekend around the house, and got to take in the inaugural football game at my alma mater on Saturday. To be there and witness the very first game was purely awesome. Football is something that's been a long time in the works for our school, and i'm glad to see it finally happening. Not to mention we kicked ass and won 52-7!
