Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Teal b*tch finally got some new shoes.

Put on a set of 35x12.50 Cooper STT's.

Rides about a thousand times better now.

Still got tons to do on her, but its getting closer.

(you can also see my new leather seats I got for it in the first picture...)

Looking good! What are those seats out of?

A Mazda something... some sort of a small van, around 2005 model. They are power, and really comfy, not too large though. Paid $100 for them at my uncles auto salvage yard. WAY etter than what I have currently...They also have side airbags - just have to remember not to power those up!

uh, yeh, I might isolate those power leads first, if not remove from the seat before you start messing with 12v around them... Might ruin you day if you trigger one!:scared:

Pulled a replacement axle shaft from the junkyard for the 8.8....took about 3 different explorers before I found one that was in good shape. Swapped it out with the bent one on my axle, and now no more wobbles.

Opened up the front to see why the locker was being so noisy, and discovered that it had only about a quart of oil in it. Replaced the springs while I was in there, but left the pins alone as they looked fine. Got everything back together, filled it up with oil, and tested everything out on my buddy's property. Everything worked great, and the locker was nice and quiet. By the time I got home (35-40 miles on the highway), the locker was back to being noisy again...

TOLD YA SO! ;)

We went camping! This was when we were about to leave...

Then we stopped and let the kids play on the play ground.

After the playground the girls had to use the bathroom. I decided to back across a small ditch and had no problem. When the girls came out I drove back across the same ditch more at a 45 degree angle this time and ended up here. You can't tell by the picture but the front left and the rear right tires are no longer on the ground.
DSCN5187.jpg

After forward momentum ceased I got out to find this... a seemingly body dropped Jeep Cherokee!
DSCN5188.jpg

Then had to use some of that fancy cable on the front to pull it 2 feet so the two "pulling" wheels would be on the ground.

Moral: The difference between open differentials and a locked differential is amazing! My trail junk is locked front and rear. This one is Open/open. I have no intentions of locking it since it stay on the road 90% of the time but it wouldn't have sat here like this.

We had a blast!

you try riding the brakes a little? sometimes that balances traction out enough that you can get yourself out of a spot like that. Done it before. Now I have a locker so I'd at least have 3 wheels turning.

Yeah, I tried that. It didn't budge. I think that had a lot to do with the fact that the back tire was crammed so far into the wheel well it wouldn't move. lol

I was really shocked at how much stronger the new Smittybilt XRC8 is than the old one. It's 3 times as fast and drug the front of my Jeep completely sideways without grunting.

I was also quick to pull cable since I wanted to try that winch out for the first time. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to use it in the middle of a Georgia State Park. lol

I somehow ended up like this without lockers once........

you crazy kids-- the 4434V National seal (OEM #50660) is not available through Advance, but the seal has the same dimensions as a 5778V National seal that a good parts person coulda sold you (PDQ).:moon:

The 5778V still retails for more than I woulda spent ($44.00) but at least you know it's out there if all else fails.

P.S. Rockauto has the 4434V for $6.19 the last time I needed it:D

FYI - Just tried to order 4434V from Rock Auto and got an error saying it was no longer available to them.

Did get my old boss to find 5778V for me at roughly $20...before my discount :D

Intermittent loss of gauges, check engine light, and "no bus" on the odometer.....SWEET!!!

Guess i'll be pulling the dash somewhat apart to clean the connections. Because that's exactly what I wanted to do...

God i'm glad I don't DD the Jeep anymore!

I'm thinking about committing to a slightly cooler DD myself. It'll be a nice truck tho.

I got a new job today so I'll have a few more dollars to throw around.

The key is a new job with a nice truck :D
