Heading out for Turkey Bay tomorrow with a 3 year old and a 5 year old on their very first off-road trip. They are pretty excited! (so am I)
yeh baby! Fun Times! My kids hit their first trail some where between 1 and 2 yrs old. My daughter slept through her first dirt adventure... wrong time of day!

Gonna put an exhaust on the Red jeep tomorrow, maybe change the oil and If I get a wild hair up my ass I may take the hood off of Betsy and install the Z34 vents.

got that front bumper on. i want to give a beer to the guy who thought up lug removers.

{plug}and thanks to JCR for the quick shipment. 2 days from MI to VA{/plug}

got some 60s, dana 300, wheels, and some big bald rubber for rollers.
ohh and the biggerst thing way paying off my truck.

my shackel? Made like that well I made it like that lol

AJ, the problem is that if I do the rear pieces I want I have to link the back, if I like the back I want coilovers. Etc....

Trav, the drivers side quarter looks leaned out a bit. :)

It's not over but in the course of my tear down to fix the front I found these:

Starting to think I need to rethink things a little.

Got sticker shock trying to come up with a front pinion seal for the Jeep. Advance and Autozone don't even have a listing for it, and Napa wants $42...for a damn oil seal!!!!

Needless to say, it's going to be leaking for a while longer.

Get the number and call around. The way Advanced and Autozone and Oreileys set up there system its no suprise they dont have a listing.

Rock Auto?

I finally swapped in a 96 booster with the rod ground down to fit my truck and KAPOW, I finally have a regular pedal again.

I think I need a very thorough brake bleeding, including the MC.

Yeah we tried that. Turns out one of the guys I used to work with back when I worked at Advance now works at the one down the road from me, so the two of us tried every trick we could think of to beat the system. It wasn't that they didn't have a part number, it was unavailable to them.

you crazy kids-- the 4434V National seal (OEM #50660) is not available through Advance, but the seal has the same dimensions as a 5778V National seal that a good parts person coulda sold you (PDQ).:moon:

The 5778V still retails for more than I woulda spent ($44.00) but at least you know it's out there if all else fails.

P.S. Rockauto has the 4434V for $6.19 the last time I needed it:D

pulled sams bumper to inspect for frame cracks and thankfully its all in one piece.... i think one of the inside the frame braces came loose and is popping around when the rail wags a bit..... nothing some frame slugs and a new steering brace cant fix

Trip was great. The girls were pretty scared when we got to the first hill climb, so we turned around and stayed on the "primary" roads the rest of the day. Those roads are still pretty fun. Better to run easy stuff and keep the girls excited and interested so they want to go again! (and they both said they do).

After we got over the "excitement" of the first hill, Barrett, my 3 year old said, "Daddy, I was scared but now I am happy." And when we got home, I got a big kiss from both of them...which was all the thanks I needed.

Big thanks to Joe and Jana, Brian and Krista, and Allen and his crew for accommodating a couple rookies out on the trail.

Yeah I saw that. Probably going to order one this week and hopefully replace it before it gets too cold.

What I don't understand is, why is it so damn hard to get locally? As many millions of Jeeps as there are on the road, with probably 80-90% of them being 4x4. And i'd put serious money on the fact they all (XJ/TJ/ZJ) use the same seal too.
