Weekend is over...what did you get done?

-15* wind chill...and skiing.....you guys are hartier...uh...younger than I... Specially for NC skiing....didn't think they had anything worth that kind of sacrifice

I have never been a big fan of App Ski Hill, but it was perfect for this trip. Recent big snowfall, not many people braving the weather, and a good place for beginners to show some epic falls. Even with forgetting my face insulation (therefore my beard freezing over), I felt great out there. I'm well invested in gear after living there and being on the slopes every other day, so it could be a different story for others.

I finally pulled the head off the MJ. I knew it had a blown head gasket but ran great with no overheating.

Anyway there was a nice missing piece of gasket on the driver side outside of the gasket on #1.

So I am hoping to get the head checked (if I can afford it) today and then put it back together later this week. If I can't afford it (it's a 200K mile 4 bngr in a $500 MJ) I will just slap it back together and go.

Then I think my neighbor has decided to go 1 ton under his F-150...he has a HP-44 and 9" just sitting there and will let them go CHEAP...so this thing may get built up bigger than originally thought...I think the 4 bngr will pull 37's nicely with 5.38 gears.

You get that awesome "venting of compression pressure to the engine compartment" sound going on? I had that when a 2" long chunk of gasket blew out of the back of #6 on my M54A2.

I'd go nuts with gasoline and a gasket scraper, clean the head up real good, then put a good straightedge on it and see if it's warped. If it isn't warped and the valves aren't burned, just slap it back on and run it.

It was your birthday this weekend Nick? Mine was Saturday Happy Belated Birthday man!

We share the same birthday then! Same to you. So we have Ghost on the 7th, us on the 8th, and Stump on the 9th.

That's awsome....looks rather windy over there....I'm thinking about now, you guys should be getting more snow to play in!

Yeah, the wind was no joke. It would all but stop you in the middle of the slope.

built a snow man...

We got the Jeep back together after a couple months work and took it for a ride in the snow. Went great. Just got to get the front bumper back on.

they did a lame job of destroying that snowman... :eyes:

last one I did, I went all special forces on it. Bored a hole the size of a 2 liter pop bottle into it, put 2 cups of liquid nitrogen in a 2 liter bottle, cranked the cap down, stuck it in, and retired to a safe distance... 5 minutes later boom

Picked up a new 9AG78DT AGM battery from the Co-op and went to install it and found my tray was broken. Nothing is ever easy but at least I do happen to have a few trays.

that's neat, but i can't find liquid nitrogen around here that easily... did you just have some in a cooler in the back seat or something?

I knew one of the guys in the advanced magnetics lab at a nearby school. At the end of every semester when they needed to return their massive dewars of LN2, they used to just return them with whatever they had left still inside... so he said I could take as much as I wanted right before they returned them. We found an awful lot of uses for liquid nitrogen. We did some really neat frozen drinks at parties, flash frozen food, the usual pranks, 2-liter bottle explosions, etc. My favorite use (well, aside from exploding things) was to clean floors, it would clean all manner of gunk off a linoleum floor amazingly because it would all flash freeze and could be swept off instead of scraped up.
