Weekend is over...what did you get done?

not sure yet. i think it'll be an o-ring. i'm iguana get me a blacklight and find the leak, and do whatever i gotta to fix the leak, then i can vac it down and charge it. i'm about done wasting money on paying other ppl to fix my junk.

I've been installing a 3.5" lift on a 82 Toyota SFA truck. Its the TrailGear kit and is a good bit of work. Its much easier to lift a XJ lol!

I have the front done with the exception of a the new steering box and shock hoops. I'm going to pick up some more oxygen for the torch and argon/co2 for the MIG tomorrow and knock it out Saturday. I'll post picks.

Just finished installing my new-to-me ORF tube bumper... :yelclap:

Well said, and fully agreed. Most times I've found I can buy all the tools and parts I need and still stay under the expected cost at a local garage, though ac is probably expensive tool wise unless you hit harbor freight really hard.

Spent a few grand picking up parts for the Betty today. Got my ORI struts, Magnaflow exhaust, and some weatherpack connectors to aid in wiring it up. Im just ready for this thing to be done. Im tired of spending money on it... I just want to drive it!

Then after doing all of that, we started fixing up Dan's new truck getting it ready for a new coat of paint! So far its coming a long pretty good. We got it all stripped this evening and one side is almost sanded completely. We still need to finish the right front fender, the rest of the hood and roof, the back of the cab and tailgate, and then the whole driver's side. While working on it, Chris stopped by and spoke with me about a cage for his jeep, which is really nice. Should be starting on that in a few weeks hopefully, either right before or right after Latney's jeep. But, my shop is first come first serve so if Latney says he's ready to start, so am I! Haha.

I finished up a cage on a YJ yesterday, and I am very happy with how it turned out. It looks very poison spyderish, and the customer was very impressed so that's always good!

We are still lifting the Yota LOL! As of right now we have over 100 man hours in this lift and we still are not done with the front end and have not started the rear. Lifting a Yota 3.5" is expensive and a PITA! $2100 for the lift!!! I could buy 4 running beater XJ's for that coin!

These Yota guys love their junk, that is all I havta say! The Trail Gear lift is a nice set-up but a hell of a lot of cutting, grinding and welding.

That's pretty much the reason I chose XJ, and stopped looking in the 'yota direction.

And the crazy thing is, this is a SFA truck, a 82! I can't imagine how much it would cost to do a SAS swap on a IFS truck/runner. I have helped on 2 SAS swaps for local wheelers at wrench parties but this is my first full "by myself" lift on a Yota. I had to pull both axles and cut ALL bracketry for the front and rear suspension off the frame and start over. Not to mention switching from a "push-pull" steering box to a IFS steering box and all of the modifications that went along with that endeavor. The steering box bracket took 5 hours to make work right and weld in just by itself.

I love my HEEPS!!

Yikes. Yoda guys are crazy if they go through that kind of crap...

Dumped another quart of oil into the MJ, stripped down another junk d30. I think that might be the fourth one, I'm growing quite the decorative collection of spinnable loaded carriers on my desk at work.

changed the oil in the waggy for the first time since the rebuild, then drove to chapel hill where thanks to and with the help of TRT, i swapped in a shiny clean A/C compressor , broke down, and swapped out a power wire on the starter relay, and drove back home.
i'm about to mow the yard and change the oil in the wife's car, then prolly tomorrow i'll be evacuating and recharging the system, and hoping that maybe my A/C will work at least for a couple weeks so i can make a trip to the beach and not burn up too bad.

What beach are you planning on Chief?

Trimmed front flares and reformed fender,

Got the rear suspension fixxed, replaced shocks, u bolts, all bushings, fresh pinion wedges, and a few other important things. Intended to replace the front shocks, but the day just didn't go as well as planned. Lower the jeep down and find that out of nowhere it started having some electrical problems, fuel pump isn't kicking, doesnt appear to be a fuse but I told the 97s have alot of connector issues with fuses and wiring.

First time working on the jeep with a lift, was amazing really, then the lift had a few problems, so we kind of started to slack, plus I had worked all night til 7, cleaned my house a little, started wrenching around 11, by 2 pm I was zoning off strugglign to stay awake. All in all a good bit of work was done, and Im glad.

lookin at a trip to savannah georgia, and possibly going to charleston, sc while we're on that side of the planet. we'll hit tybee island, and maybe some other beaches.

Just got back from Myrtle Beach... Too many tourists and WAY too hot. I drove up to Kure, NC this past monday to drive out on the beach. I saw a couple nice XJs up there. I wonder who they were... I was in the Liberty so I didn't stop, lol.
