tow bar mounting

has anyone tried mounting the brakets for a towbar on the bottom of the bumper instead of the front face. no im not running stock bumper. mine is a custon bumper which includes my whinch.made from .180 retangle tube.i had a towbar mounted to the face when i towed my Comanche. my Cherokee sits aprox 2 plus inches taller than the Comanche..

It should be fine, just remember, you want the towbar level or slightly uphill to the towrig. If the towed vehicle end is higher, your jeep could try to jump into the back seat when you hit the brakes. I've even seen setups on YJ's where the tow bar hooks to the front shackles.
