so you have to drive up & over wheel well tubs to get the buggy in? how will this effect the overhead bunk? Is so I would just do it in steel & not mess with wood.

driving up and over is not the problem, the wheels will sit right against the front of the wheel wells when in its proper place, with the alminum floor, you cannot get traction to back back out and I will not have room to pull forward to bump back over them, they act as wheel stops. So I am gonna build boxes in front of them that are level with the wheel wells so I can just back out. It still allows plenty of room height wise for the bunk head room. I am just doing wood ones temp so I can get my measurements, have not picked up steel yet to build pernament ones, I have plenty of scrap wood laying around from redoing the deck railing in the back yard so it is not like it is a waste of money.

Nope, just like 87manche said, I am doing this in such a way we can take my bone stock 2 wheel drive xj if we want for family vacations and be able to go out sight seeing if we wanted to, This has all been planned from the very beginning

as usual I am sitting here waiting for daylight, gonna empty the stuff out of the back of the box, build my boxes and pull the buggy in so I can start on my rear bunk. Once I get going it should go really quick.

Little delay in what I wanted to get done today, buggy has been sitting since the Crawl and does not want to start up, now I gotta figure that out before I can get it into the truck to figure out clearance and deminsions for the upper rear bed area, always something. I will get back to it tomorrow, gotta head to work here soon

Went out this morning and the buggy started right up, only thing I can figure is it must have flooded itself when I tried to start it with the bad fuel pressure regulater. Gotta run a bunch of errands with the wife today. One of them is stopping by the insurance co so I am taking my paperwork with me and see what they can do about insuring the truck as a motorhome while we are there. Planning on picking up lumber also so I can start on the rear bed loft also. Hopefully we will get done with errands in time for me to make some progress this afternoon

started framing up my rear bunk. I will end up with just a little more headroom than my old slide in camper had which is fine. I left about 3" of clearance over the buggy to allow for bouncing while traveling. I am gonna make my storage cabinet into the back wall of the bunk which will continue over the roof of the buggy. This will give me a cabinet 8' wide. I am gonna end up with all kinds of storage by the time I am done.

Right now I have just the outer frame for the bed loft in place with the buggy sitting in there, I have a 12 hour shift today so it is gonna be to dark to get pics. I should be home early enough to get some pics tomorrow. I have to pick up some more lumber and then I can get some more done on it, with my schedual this week I will probably have to wait till thursday and Friday to work on it since those are my days off. I am getting antsy to get it finished. I need to get out and wheel before it gets too cold around here.

been searching for some windows for the rear upper bunk, have not found anything yet in the size and price range I want yet. I have decided to use 2 out of my old camper and frame them in with wood wide enough so that when I do find some I like, I will have enough meat around the window to simply take these out and recut for the new ones. This way I can keep moving forward on this and get it done

here are a couple pics with the buggy in place and the main outer frame for the bed in place I am gonna frame out the rest of the bed when I am off work, I have Thursday and Friday off so I should be able to knock out alot of it then
